Seasonal Mosquito Technician

The primary purpose of this role is to provide a quality, professional service. Technicians deliver courteous, safe, and dependable service, ensuring each customer has a positive experience while preventing the spread of diseases through mosquito control. Responsibilities Routinely inspect control zones for potential mosquito breeding habitats and mosquito larvae by visual inspection and dipping. Assess each inspection site and apply appropriate control techniques (e.g., no action, source reduction, biological control, public education, or chemical control). Place and retrieve monitoring devices to assess mosquito populations. Accurately record all findings and control activities on log sheets and GPS units, and enter data into VDCI’s database as required. Familiarize with chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and handle chemicals according to label specifications. Follow safety and spill procedures, and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) regularly. Communicate respectfully and knowledgeably with residents during inspections or other public relations activities. Operate equipment safely, mix pesticides, fill sprayers accurately, and adhere to safety precautions during product application. React promptly to changes and handle additional essential tasks as assigned. Read, write, and speak clearly to present information internally and externally. Essential Job Functions Comfortable with self‑directed work after training. Work performed outdoors and may expose workers to hazardous conditions or substances, including weather, uneven terrain, pesticides, dust, insects, hazardous plants, and wild and domestic animals. Capable of lifting and handling equipment and containers weighing up to 50 pounds. Safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a clean work vehicle and equipment. Qualifications Demonstrated attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to learn and become knowledgeable in pest control. High school diploma or GED (or equivalent education and experience). Valid driver’s license from the state of residence. Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in various units). Necessary licenses or certificates required by federal, state, and/or local regulations (covered by the company).
