Join our team as we help shape the future.Life and AD&D are important growth areas for The Hartford and key products for the Employee Benefits organization.At over $2B in premium the product portfolio includes Life, AD&D and SAADD.The Product Director is responsible for strategy development, value proposition, product offering, financial performance, and the end-to-end customer experience for employers and participants. This role reports to the VP, Group Life, Voluntary and Specialty, leads a team of four product managers, and can be based in Hartford, CT, Lake Mary, FL or Alpharetta, GA. Remote arrangements will also be considered.Responsibilities:Sets Life and AD&D strategy, in collaboration with the Employee Benefits Senior Leadership Team:Responsible for The Hartford’s Product RoadmapIdentifies and addresses long-term business opportunities to impact growth and profitabilityIdentifies and evaluates new product opportunities to expand The Hartford’s portfolioProactively leverages competitive intelligence to ensure a competitive market positionLeads key initiatives across the broader Group Benefits organization, including:New product development and upgrades and updates to existing productsEnrollment strategies to increase product participationOperating upgrades needed to succeed in the marketplace (e.g., IT investments, product investments, customer experience changes)Effective spokesperson for the product suite both internally and in the external marketEnsures products and operations remain compliant with all applicable federal and state laws and regulationsLeads & inspires Product Management team and provides cross-functional leadership of aligned functional resources across the matrixTrains and develops direct reports, as well as key cross-functional support staff.Creates a positive work environment, with a focus on execution, teamwork and inclusionDevelops current & future leaders for Group Benefits and The Hartford overallQualifications:5+ years’ experience in Employee Benefits working directly with Life and AD&D products, including deep expertise in life insurance products.Proven strategic leader who can identify and capture potential market opportunities, while balancing operational and financial constraints.Proven track record of effective people leadership and delivering results through a cross-functional team.Financially astute; has an excellent command of product economics and financial concepts, and how they tie to operational initiatives.Strong relationship and influencing skills, effective ambassador for this product suite internally and in the external market.Understands distribution, employer and customer dynamics.Experience with Employee Benefits insurance product development process.Creative problem solver with track record of solving customer problems and a positive, “can-do” outlook.Exceptional communication, influencing and partnership skills; works effectively in a matrix environment to drive outcomes through others.Understands the business end-to-end, from product development through sales, servicing and claim; experience working in an Agile environment helpful.Proactively engages with new and emerging technologies, including AI, to maximize the effectiveness and growth of our products.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
