The successful candidate will be experienced in designing and delivering reliable, scalable, and highly performant microservice to help support Alkami’s core banking infrastructure.We’re seeking an experienced engineer who has worked on microservices and in the N-tier architecture environment to help us build the next generation of Alkami’s digital banking platform. Additionally, the Sr Software Engineer is responsible for collaborating with engineers throughout the development process. Our Developers work in an Agile environment and are passionate about creating a seamless user experience for our clients and their customers.The Core Banking Engineering TeamThe Core Banking Engineering team is responsible for the development and delivery of our core banking platform, including the design and implementation of Kubernetes-based (K8s) RESTful services, infrastructure as code (such as Terraform), and integration with critical banking middleware. This team ensures that our core banking solutions meet the highest standards of performance, security, and scalability.Key Responsibilities & DutiesLead code/design reviews to ensure smooth daily operations and accurate planningParticipate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debuggingWrite clean code to develop functional web applicationsAdvanced troubleshooting and debuggingPerform UI tests to optimize performanceLiaise with developers, designers and system administrators to identify new featuresManage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applicationsGather and address technical and design requirementsSet up and maintain environment configurations and monitor system healthBuild reusable code and libraries for future useProvide training and support to internal teamsEnhance development tools, test coverage, and/or code structureProvide mentoring and technical support to junior engineersRespond promptly to on-call incidents, including troubleshooting and resolving criticaldisruptions to ensure minimal downtimeMaintain clear and proactive communication with customers and vendors to ensure a positive, collaborative relationshipDemonstrate self-sufficiency by independently managing tasks, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines, while adapting to new challenges without supervision.Maintaining development standards within the teamChampion an API-first approach software projects, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and extensibility.QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience5+ years of experience in software development, or a related field, or equivalentStrong programming skills in an OOP language like Java or C#, or a functional language like KotlinStrong experience designing highly performant and scalable solutions with cloud-native technologies such as KubernetesExperience working with event-driven architecture at scaleExperience with microservice designExperience with OpenTelemetry (or similar)Experience working with Database Systems and experience designing scalable solutions in RDBMS and NoSQLExperience working with modern Javascript frameworks like React and Angular, HTML, and CSSExperience using PagerDuty to respond to critical incidents and participate in on-call rotation to support Alkami’s customersExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical clientsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issuesExperience providing technical leadershipSelf-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a teamUnderstanding and practical application of REST API best practices.
