This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with federal regulations, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), CAS (Cost Accounting Standards), and DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) requirements.The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining compliant accounting systems, supporting contract profitability, and ensuring audit readiness while providing accurate financial insights to leadership. This position directly impacts revenue recognition, cost recovery, and overall contract performance.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and manage accounting operations in compliance with FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements.Perform job cost accounting, including direct and indirect cost allocation across contracts.Prepare and monitor indirect rate structures (fringe, overhead, G&A) and support provisional and final rate submissions.Ensure accurate timekeeping and labor distribution in accordance with DCAA standards.Support incurred cost submissions (ICS) and assist with annual audits.Manage general ledger activities, including account reconciliations and month-end close processes.Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll allocations, and contract billing.Prepare and submit government contract billings, including cost-plus, T&M, and fixed-price invoices.Monitor contract funding, burn rates, and profitability; provide variance analysis and forecasting.Maintain audit-ready documentation and support DCAA audits, DCMA reviews, and external audits.Develop and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with federal contracting requirements.Collaborate with program managers and leadership to provide financial insights on contract performance.Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards applicable to government contracts.Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting aligned with contract requirements.Experience & QualificationsProven experience in accounting within a federal government contracting environment.Strong knowledge of FAR, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements.Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar government-compliant accounting systems (highly preferred).Demonstrated experience with job costing, indirect rates, and contract billing.Familiarity with incurred cost submissions (ICS) and audit support processes.Solid understanding of GAAP and its application within government contracting.Experience managing cost-reimbursable, T&M, and fixed-price contracts.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Ability to interpret complex financial and regulatory requirements.Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally with finance, HR, and program teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting DoD or federal agency contracts.Prior interaction with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) or Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).CPA or equivalent certification (preferred but not required).Experience preparing or supporting forward pricing rate proposals (FPRP).
