Data EngineerPosition is remote (can be in any 20 states in Great Midwest area). Wooddale, IL area is the preferred location.3 months (Temp to Perm)The position requires 10% Travel and qualified candidates near a client's laboratory location in the Midwest states are considered.In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying highly scalable, high performance data integration and transformation solutions in client's enterprise data platform.This role will focus on building intelligent dashboards, automating operational workflows, and leveraging data insights to enhance decision making for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong self-motivated autonomy, ownership mindset and a passion for innovation through data, technology and AI.The position requires 10% Travel and qualified candidates near a client's laboratory location in the Midwest states are considered.20 states including: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, WyomingFive main laboratories (Lenexa, Wood Dale, St. Louis, Denver, and Cincinnati)ResponsibilitiesDashboard & Reporting Development* Support and enable the development of Business Intelligence and Data Science solutions, design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, etc.) for customer performance, financial, and operational insights.* Develop algorithms and processes to transform data into useful, actionable information* Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and visualization consistency across platforms.* Automate recurring reporting processes to improve efficiency and timeliness.Operational Workflow Automation & Data Engineering* Understand requirements from operational and business teams to identify automation opportunities and streamline manual processes.* Develop and optimize digital workflows for client onboarding, approval process, and reporting using tools (such as UiPath, Power Automate, Alteryx, Sales force, or similar CRM platforms.)* Manage data pipelines and integrations between multiple systems (UiPath, CRM, ERP, Sales Force, and reporting platforms).* Ensure data governance, compliance, and quality across all sources.Data Analysis & AI Integration* Use artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to identify emerging trends, anomalies, and patterns in customer and financial data to create actionable insights.* Provide data-driven recommendations to highlight opportunities, risks, and areas that need attention.* Collaborate with business and customer teams to translate insights into actionable strategies.* Work closely with business teams - Customer Solutions, Commercial, Billing, Finance, National teams - to understand business acumen, business needs to deliver impactful technical data & digitized solutions for internal teams and enhance external customer experience.* Collaborate with other IT software engineers, architects, national RPA/AI teams to bring new perspectives to complex business problemsCuriosity, Continuous Learning & Improvement, Cross functional CollaborationProject Ownership & Delivery* Take initiative in discussions in team meetings, problem discussions to seek to understand business challenges and proactively propose data-driven or automation-based solutions.* Operate with a high degree of self-motivating autonomy - don't wait for a problem to come to you, seek problems to solve by yourself.* Manage & prioritize projects independently end to end from scoping to delivery, feedback loop, ensuring timelines are met, adjust to changing priorities.* Quick agile product roll out, test, learn and continuously improve with stakeholder feedback.QualificationsRequired Education:* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related fieldRequired Work Experience:* Strong experience in functional requirements gathering via stakeholder interviewing to understand what the business needs and then translate to technical solutions timely* 3-5 years' experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Alteryx, UiPath).* 3-5 years of experience in cloud-based data warehouses (Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.)* Strong proficiency in Tableau/Power BI for dashboard creation for story telling* Proficient in Python or R for data analysis/science and workflow automation.* Proficient and experience with SQL, ETL processes, and data modeling (integrating data from multiple sources into one like smart sheets, sales force, databases, excel, etc.)Preferred Work Experience:* Exposure to version control systems (Git, SVN)* Understanding of and willingness to embrace Agile Project ManagementSoft Skills:* Self-motivated and autonomous- takes ownership, stay focused, completes projects without needing much supervision* Curiosity & analytical mind - ability to quickly adapt new technologies and learn new practice* Collaborative* Proactive problem solver* Adaptable & agile* Result oriented* Customer focused* Strong communication and presentation skills.* Prioritization & flexibility to business needs
