Medical Assistant - Medication Pass, Ordering, and Support
Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organized Medical Assistant to join our team, with responsibilities extending beyond medication pass. This position will include creating doctor lists, ordering medications, assisting with vitals, and providing general support to the nursing staff. Weekend availability is required for this role.
Duties
Medication Pass: Assist with the administration of medications, ensuring clients receive their prescriptions on time and according to medical orders.
Medication Management: Monitor and track medication inventory, including ordering refills and ensuring proper storage and compliance with all regulations.
Doctor List Management: Maintain an updated doctor list for detox and residential clients, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with physicians.
Vitals Monitoring: Take and record vitals for detox and residential clients as required (e.g., daily for detox clients and more than once per day for residential clients).
Medical Records: Accurately document all interactions with clients, including medication passes, vitals, and any medical concerns or refusals.
Client Interaction: Educate clients about their medications, assist with intake assessments, and monitor clients for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications.
Clinical Support: Assist the nursing and medical staff with other clinical duties as needed, such as preparing medical charts and coordinating client medical appointments.
Weekend Shifts: Provide medical assistant support during weekend shifts, ensuring continuity of care and supporting client needs throughout the weekend.
Requirements
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification (required).
Experience working in a behavioral health, detox, or substance abuse treatment setting (preferred).
Familiarity with medication administration, ordering, and inventory management.
Ability to manage doctor lists and coordinate care with physicians.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work weekend shifts.
CPR/BLS certification (preferred).
