If you are an experienced educator or administrator who excels at navigating challenging situations and possesses the communication skills to inspire educators in working toward common goals, we want you to join our student services team.In this role, you will act as an essential bridge between staff, families, and administration, ensuring our students receive the support necessary to access their education and make meaningful progress. Key responsibilities include providing direct staff supervision alongside the Building Principal; championing the IEP Team process and ensuring full compliance with IDEA and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations; facilitating productive, solutions-oriented conversations with staff and families; designing and supporting creative, responsive programming to meet diverse student needs; expertly managing complex matters with professionalism and sound judgment; and cultivating strong, positive connections with all stakeholders to create a unified support system for student success.Job Title: Student Services Coordinator (4-6)Reports to: Director of Student Services and Building PrincipalDepartment: Student ServicesSchool year and days: 199 days (184 teacher days + 15 additional days)FLSA Status: Exempt, Administrator UnionSalary Range: Administrator Salary Scale(salary for 194 days, plus 5 additional days at per diem rate)QualificationsEducation: Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related fieldProfessional Certification: MA DESE licensure in Special Education AdministrationMinimum of three years as a Student Services Coordinator or Team Chair preferredCORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.Specialized Knowledge: Understanding of IEP process and of special education regulations, child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, technology integration.ExperienceFacilitate IEP meetings, ensuring collaborative team decision-making, family engagement, and compliance with IDEA requirements and procedural timelinesEnsure compliance with IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations, including IEP development, implementation, documentation, and BSEA processesCreate and oversee special education programming for students with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and learning needsPromote inclusive practices aligned with Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) principles through strategic programming, scheduling, and staffing decisionsSupervise and evaluate staff to support instructional effectiveness, compliance, and program qualitySupport Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to improve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomesUse student data to inform programming, placement, and intervention decisionsCollaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to support student needs and educational planningSkillsStrong knowledge of special education law, compliance, and procedural safeguardsProficient in ESPED, student information systems (SIS), and Google WorkspaceData-driven problem solving and decision-makingClear and effective communication with diverse stakeholdersStrong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environmentsInstructional leadership grounded in current research and best practicesAbility to lead change and build staff capacityCENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):Create and maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment that reflects student diversity and promotes equitable access in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)Lead and facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring effective collaboration with families and staff and maintaining accurate, timely documentation and compliance requirementsEnsure compliance with IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations, including procedural timelines and documentation requirementsMonitor and support IEP implementation in collaboration with school leaders and staff to ensure access to curriculum through differentiated instruction and assessmentCollaborate with building leadership to develop master schedules and student placements aligned with LRE requirementsPromote and support effective co-teaching practices and strengthen collaboration between general and special education staffCollaborate with district wide Student Services Coordinators to ensure alignment of processes, procedures, and programming across schools to promote consistency and continuity of servicesStay current with changes in special education law, regulations, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and effective implementationUse student data to inform programming, placement, and intervention decisionsPlan and facilitate professional development to support instructional practice, inclusion, and compliance, including licensure requirementsParticipate in school-based and district-wide committees to support continuous improvement initiativesBuild and maintain collaborative relationships with families, staff, and community partnersPerform other related duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Student Services Coordinator has supervisory responsibilities for special education teachers, educational support professionals, related service providers, and other staff as assigned in conjunction with the building Principal.
