Moderate Special Education Teacher
Successful candidate must have the ability to:Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of studentsPlan and implement lessons based on the curriculum that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of studentsUtilize specific instructional strategies and practices that allow for the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of various learnersUse instructional technology appropriately and work with students to facilitate their use of instructional technologyUse reasoning ability to evaluate assessment data and determine/recommend an appropriate course of actionCommunicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written formEffectively present information and respond to questions from groups including staff, parents and the general publicComplete academic evaluations with students in accordance with state and federal regulationsCollect data to inform progress, instruction, modifications and accommodations to be considered on Individual Education Plans [IEP] in accordance with local, state and federal guidelinesServe as liaison/case manager of students on assigned caseload, to include but not limited to: communicating with parents, colleagues, paraprofessionals, administration, and Team Chairs the student's academic and overall IEP progress on the sameUse contemporary professional literature, evidence-based research, and continuing education content to make practice decisionEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the communityWork independently, prioritize tasks and manage several projects simultaneouslyPerform duties with awareness of all district requirements, state and federal laws, and Grafton Public Schools policiesWork with students of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive mannerMaintain appropriate confidential recordsReact professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations (e.g. environmental changes, behavior/aggression, seizure activity, etc.)Plan, coordinate, conduct and participate in ongoing professional and staff development.Work collaboratively with colleagues, students and familiesExplain and implement special education laws and regulations as well as academic and cognitive assessmentsPerform other duties not specifically listed but required by building or district administration to enable the smooth operation of the school and the district special education program.
