Recreational Coordinator for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Recreational Coordinator to develop and oversee enriching recreational programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role involves designing engaging schedules, coordinating community outreach efforts, and managing a dedicated team to ensure the highest quality of support and engagement.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Community Outreach:** Identify and establish relationships with community organizations, businesses, and volunteer groups to create a wide range of volunteer and job opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Coordinate community outings and events that align with the interests and needs of our clients.
- **Program Development:** Design and implement meaningful recreational schedules tailored to the preferences and goals of each individual. Ensure that activities promote personal growth, social interaction, and skill development.
- **Staff Coordination:** Supervise and support staff members to ensure they are adhering to clients' schedules and engaging them in purposeful activities. Provide training and guidance to staff to maintain high standards of care and support.
- **Activity Supervision:** Oversee the execution of recreational programs and community outings. Monitor participation and gather feedback to continuously improve program offerings.
- **Client Interaction:** Build strong relationships with individuals, their families, and caregivers. Actively listen to their needs and preferences to incorporate their input into program planning and execution.
- **Documentation and Reporting:** Maintain accurate records of activities, client progress, and staff performance. Prepare reports and communicate updates to management and stakeholders.
**Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a similar role involving recreational program coordination.
- **Skills:** Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to motivate and lead a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
