The expected salary range is $43.27 to $45.19, varying based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes a bonus and 401(k). Primary Purpose of PositionAs an Electric Plant Technician at our Combined Heat and Power Facility, you will play a critical role in ensuring the inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of plant equipment and systems for optimal performance and safety. You will work with a variety of equipment, including motor control centers, electrical switchgear, plant control systems, gas conditioning systems, and more. You will also manage contractors and repairs for high voltage systems. Additional duties will be assigned by the Combined Heat and Power Plant Manager as needed. Primary Duties and AccountabilitiesAssist in vendor sourcing to ensure the best value and highest quality for the DC Water Cogeneration Facility. Install revisions or modifications to plant systems, updating control drawings and schematics. Follow all approved plant operating, maintenance, and health and safety procedures. Exercise sound judgment within defined procedures and consult with supervisors when necessary. This role may require overtime to support vacations, plant outages, or emergency work. Schedule and status activities for both outage and non-outage work scopes. Assist in the administration and execution of the preventative maintenance program. Help maintain and control the plant's electrical inventory system. Perform calibrations and equipment testing, keeping custody records of calibration and testing instruments. Work collaboratively as a member of the Combined Heat and Power Facility Operations and Maintenance Team. Diagnose system and equipment issues, including generators, motors, breakers, switches, and more from 480 V to 13.8 kV. Perform both preventative and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment and systems. Assist in planning and scheduling work for outages. Maintain records of electrical calibration equipment custody. Comply with industry electrical safety standards. Take on additional tasks as assigned, which may include assisting with mechanical maintenance, equipment calibrations, and general housekeeping duties. Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma plus 5 years of electrical maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Technical trades training (trade or military), with relevant electrical certifications preferred. Demonstrated electrical and mechanical aptitude, along with basic steam plant and combustion turbine knowledge. Proficient in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to stand, walk, climb, talk, hear, and use hands regularly. Capable of climbing ladders and balancing, as well as stooping, crawling, and bending at the knees and waist; able to lift up to 50 lbs. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Mechanical and electrical aptitude, with experience working with switching up to 480 volts. Experience in analytical troubleshooting techniques and root cause failure analysis. Understanding of Medium Voltage Systems (480 volts up to 13.8 kV) and their maintenance requirements. Preferred QualificationsExperience performing electrical maintenance at a power plant or industrial facility. Familiarity with Maximo software.
