Full Charge Bookkeeper/Controller
A well-established metal fabrication company serving the construction industry is seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper / Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations. This position works closely with ownership, office staff, the Accounts Receivable team, and the company’s outside CPA. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently, and comfortable managing a wide range of accounting, payroll, and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:Process weekly payroll for approximately 40 employees, including reviewing timecards, attendance records, and PTO tracking.Maintain employee expense reports and payroll-related records.Record daily journal entries and maintain the general ledger.Perform daily bank reconciliations and monthly account reconciliations.Manage accounts payable, including invoice entry, vendor payments, and matching invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.Process accounts receivable transactions and generate customer invoices using JobPower accounting software.Prepare and maintain financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, AP aging, and AR aging reports.Coordinate with the company’s outside CPA by providing information needed for quarterly reviews, year-end reporting, and tax preparation.Process quarterly estimated tax payments and sales tax filings for New Jersey and New York.Maintain organized accounting records and filing systems.Manage petty cash and monitor daily cash activity.Assist with workers’ compensation reporting, monthly premium submissions, and annual audits.Handle month-end closing activities and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.Support new hire onboarding, benefit enrollment, healthcare plan administration, and retirement plan changes.Assist with various company certifications, renewals, filings, and general administrative support.Answer and route incoming business calls as needed.Communicate effectively with employees, management, vendors, and external business partners. Requirements:Minimum 5 years of full-charge bookkeeping at a small manufacturing company. Construction industry experience is preferred.Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and financial reporting.Experience processing payroll and maintaining employee records.Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining spreadsheets and formulas.Familiarity with purchase order systems and vendor invoice processing.Experience with AIA billing, requisitions, and change orders is a plus.Knowledge of JobPower software is preferred but not required.Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
