Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) in school counseling or in administration and supervision PreK-12.Knowledge of school counseling techniques, programs, and practices.Knowledge of adolescent psychology, growth, and development.Knowledge of principles and practices of the high school philosophy and current curriculum and instructional trends.Knowledge of master schedule development.Ability to assign, supervise, oversee, and evaluate a staff of school counselors and support personnel.Ability to gain the confidence of students, families, and professional staff and foster cooperation.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Major Duties/Essential FunctionsPlans, supervises, and implements a student services and counseling program, i.e., academic, career, personal/social, and related developmental concerns.Collaborates with subject department persons to determine course needs, descriptions, and student placements.Prepares, implements, and communicates the organization of the master schedule.Participates in the selection, supervision and evaluation of counseling staff and staff associated with specified academic programs.Organizes and directs student registrations, orientations, transcripts, and placement of students in a variety of programs.Organizes and participates in student recognition activities.Organizes and directs the standardized testing programs.Oversees student placement.Oversees the maintenance of student records and ensures the accurate collection of data for regular and special reports.Ensures accurate application of all student information systems; conducts teacher/family and teacher/student conferences, as necessary.Participates in the planning, developing, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs.Counsels students and families on post-secondary options.Facilitates graduation ceremonies.Counsels students who wish to withdraw before graduation.Collaborates with the director of student activities to determine athletic eligibility.Enforces School Board policies regarding grading and attendance and supervises the maintenance of student attendance records.Assists with the interpretation of School Board policies to students, staff, and the community.Supervises and participates in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities; assists with supervision of students.Assists with preparing federal, state, county, and association reports.May be assigned to assume the duties of the principal in their absence.Performs related duties as required or assigned.Work Environment/Physical RequirementsThis job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
