Position SummaryThe Career and Technical Education (CTE) Television Broadcasting II Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, industry-focused instruction in television production, digital media, broadcasting, and Adobe visual design applications. The teacher will prepare students with technical, creative, and professional skills necessary for careers in broadcasting, media production, journalism, and digital communications.The instructor will oversee the planning, production, editing, and delivery of daily school morning news announcements while teaching students advanced broadcasting techniques using Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Audition.The teacher will create a rigorous, hands-on learning environment aligned with North Carolina CTE standards and industry expectations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructional ResponsibilitiesTeach Television Broadcasting II courses aligned with North Carolina CTE curriculum standards.Deliver instruction in:Video productionDigital storytellingScript writingCamera operationsAudio productionBroadcast journalismAdobe visual design and editingLive production and studio managementProvide instruction in Adobe Creative Cloud software including:Adobe Premiere ProAdobe PhotoshopAdobe After EffectsAdobe IllustratorAdobe AuditionDevelop lesson plans, projects, and assessments that promote creativity, collaboration, and technical proficiency.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.Broadcasting & Production ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate daily student-produced morning news announcements.Ensure students are able to:Write scriptsOperate studio equipmentManage telepromptersConduct interviewsRecord and edit video/audio segmentsProduce graphics and transitionsDeliver live or recorded broadcastsMaintain production schedules and deadlines for school broadcasts and media projects.Oversee editing and post-production of school media content.Ensure broadcasts meet school and district standards for professionalism and appropriateness.Classroom & Equipment ManagementMaintain a safe, organized, and professional television studio and computer lab environment.Monitor and maintain broadcasting equipment including cameras, microphones, lighting, switchers, and editing stations.Submit requests for equipment repairs, upgrades, and inventory needs.Teach students proper handling and care of media production equipment.Student DevelopmentPrepare students for industry certifications and postsecondary opportunities in media production and digital design.Encourage leadership, teamwork, creativity, and communication skills.Support students in developing portfolios showcasing broadcasting and visual design work.Sponsor or support student media clubs, broadcasting teams, or school media initiatives as assigned.Professional ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance.Participate in required professional development related to CTE, broadcasting, and instructional technology.Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and fellow teachers to support student achievement.Maintain compliance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) CTE requirements.QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education, Broadcasting, Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or related field.Eligible for or possess a valid North Carolina teaching license in Career and Technical Education.Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.Knowledge of television production and digital broadcasting techniques.Strong classroom management and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsPrior teaching experience in broadcasting, media production, or visual design.Industry experience in television, journalism, digital media, or graphic design.Experience with live broadcasting and studio production.Adobe Certified Professional certifications preferred.Knowledge of social media content creation and digital branding.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to teach technical broadcasting and editing skills effectively.Ability to manage live production environments.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and administration.Proficiency in current media technology and industry trends.Ability to motivate students through project-based learning experiences.Physical RequirementsAbility to move and set up broadcasting equipment.Ability to stand and supervise classroom/studio activities for extended periods.Ability to operate computers, cameras, audio boards, and related technology equipment.Terms of EmploymentTen-month position in accordance with North Carolina teacher salary schedule and local board policies.Additional duties or extended contracts may apply for after-school productions, events, or extracurricular broadcasting activities.
