Director of Estimating

Environmental Air Systems – The United States’ Premier Mechanical Contractor and manufacturer of custom off-site HVAC construction – is seeking a Director of Estimating to join our team. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director of Estimating will lead and oversee the estimating department, ensuring accurate and timely cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves managing a team of estimators, developing cost strategies, and collaborating with other departments to support project bids and budgets. Job responsibilities include: Lead and manage the estimating team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Oversee the preparation of accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various types of construction projects. Develop and implement estimating processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to gather project requirements and develop cost-effective solutions. Review and analyze bid proposals, contracts, and specifications to ensure alignment with project objectives. Monitor market trends, material costs, and labor rates to keep estimates competitive and up-to-date. Prepare and present detailed cost reports and bid presentations to senior management and clients Identify potential risks and opportunities in project bids and provide recommendations for mitigation. JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIAL SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus. Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership role Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards. Proficiency in estimating software and tools. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
