Process Engineer
OverviewSeeking an experienced Process Engineer with strong gear machining experience to support the launch of a manufacturing line at an axle manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with launch teams and suppliers to deliver safe, capable, and repeatable manufacturing processes that meet quality, productivity, and cost targets.DetailsLocation: Sterling Heights, MI (onsite)Shift Time: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PMPay Rate: $42/hr with benefitsResponsibilitiesSupport manufacturing process engineering activities for gear machining operationsPartner with launch teams and suppliers during line launch activitiesDrive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and costComplete PPAP and quality launch documentationEstablish, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processesDevelop and execute action plans to resolve internal and supplier issuesLead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain guidelinesPerform ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actionsCreate and maintain process documentation and work instructionsDeliver capable processes and tooling for all gear machining operationsLead lean manufacturing and variability reduction initiativesEnsure compliance with plant, corporate, environmental, and government standardsSupport ISO 14001 compliance and internal auditsIdentify throughput constraints and drive root-cause improvements to meet production targetsRequired Qualifications5+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experienceHands-on gear manufacturing experienceStrong knowledge of manufacturing processes and lean principlesDemonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication skillsHigh School Diploma or GEDPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s DegreeHypoid bevel gear process knowledge (blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening)Heat treat experienceLean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experienceQuality tools experience (QDAS, Minitab)Gear metrology experience (Klingelnberg P40, Gleason Nano Gear CMM)Corrective action methodologies (8D, 5-Why, CAPA)Lean tools (5S, Kanban, Poka Yoke, Value Stream Mapping)DMAIC / DMADV experienceFMEA, PPAP, DOE experience
