Alation Platform Support Engineer
Job Title: Alation Platform Support EngineerLocation: Raritan, New Jersey (Onsite)Employment Type: Contract Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Alation Platform Support Engineer to support and maintain enterprise-wide Alation platform operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Alation administration, metadata management, platform integrations, security configurations, and cloud/on-prem migrations. This role will collaborate with internal teams, data stewards, security teams, and vendors to ensure platform stability, governance, and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesManage Alation users, roles, groups, and privilege assignments. Configure and maintain domains, sub-domains, documentation hubs, and metadata structures within Alation. Onboard new projects, data sources, and connectors into the Alation platform. Configure and maintain SSO/SAML authentication and LDAP synchronization with security groups and roles. Schedule and manage MDE, Data Sampling, and QLI processes. Upload and manage data dictionaries for bulk curation through the Alation GUI. Configure Lexicon, Alli Bots, and automated curation capabilities for business and technical glossary management. Coordinate with Alation vendor support teams for product issues, enhancements, feature requests, and bug fixes. Review and manage API access requests while ensuring adherence to security standards. Perform platform upgrades, patching, maintenance, and bug-fix implementations. Support migration initiatives from on-premises environments to cloud platforms. Maintain configuration change logs, performance tuning records, and operational trackers. Define and enforce platform security standards and best practices. Support firewall rule maintenance and infrastructure coordination activities. Assist data stewards and project teams with platform guidance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. Collaborate with QA/Test Quality teams to validate Alation platform functionality across on-prem and cloud environments. Support onboarding of the Alation platform into enterprise asset management processes. Required QualificationsHands-on experience administering and supporting the Alation platform. Strong understanding of metadata management, data governance, and cataloging concepts. Experience configuring SSO, SAML authentication, and LDAP integrations. Experience with Alation connectors, APIs, and security administration. Knowledge of cloud and on-prem platform support and migration activities. Experience managing platform upgrades, patches, and release implementations. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external vendors. Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting enterprise data governance initiatives.
