Quality Engineer

Quality Engineer ITD Precision . is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Team Leader to head the quality department at a Houston facility. As the Quality Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality across all aspects of production, while actively contributing to process improvement, problem-solving, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: Lead and manage the Quality Team at the Houston facility, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with company objectives. Implement and maintain the IATF 16949 Quality Management System Requirements, overseeing compliance and continuous improvement efforts. Conduct internal audits to verify adherence to quality standards and identify areas for enhancement. Demonstrate expertise in AIAG standards including APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, MSA, SPC, CQI 8, 9, 11, 12, 15, and 23, and apply these methodologies to drive quality improvements. Utilize problem-solving methods such as Fishbone Diagrams, 8D, 5Why, and 5P to identify root causes and develop effective corrective and preventive actions. Oversee quality control methods in the production process, including First/Last Piece Inspection, On Line Inspection, Control of Non-conforming products, and Product Containment. Apply various dimensional and structural measurement methods including the use of Calipers, Height gages, micrometers, Optical measurement equipment, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine). Conduct Gauge R&R studies and manage calibration processes to ensure measurement accuracy. Evaluate process capability and CPK to ensure manufacturing processes meet required specifications. Collaborate with the Engineering team to interpret prints, drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Lead cross-functional teams for new product implementation (APQP) and ensure seamless communication with multiple facilities. Maintain strong communication channels with customers, addressing quality concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction. Engage with suppliers for communication, development, and quality improvement initiatives. Utilize tools such as Minitab for data analysis and statistical process control. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of quality and innovation within the team. Qualifications: 5 years of experience in a QC role, Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Proven experience in the automotive industry with a deep understanding of IATF 16949 Quality Management System Requirements and AIAG standards. Strong proficiency in problem-solving methodologies like Fishbone Diagrams, 8D, 5Why, and 5P. Demonstrated knowledge of quality control methods, measurement tools, and statistical techniques. Proficiency in interpreting engineering prints, GD&T, and CAD software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a quality role is preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with customer communication, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration. Proficiency in using software tools like Minitab for data analysis. Certifications related to quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) are a plus.
