The TV One Post Production Facility is an Avid Technology environment (Media Composer, Media Central Production Management, Nexis), with Telestream Vantage transcoding and Xendata LTO. The Post Production Facility Technician will assist the Post Production Engineer and the Manager of Technical Operations and Support in providing frontline support for this infrastructure, and will serve as the backup encoding and duplication technician. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESMonitor and maintain the performance of production equipment and software systems, including SnapStream recordings and Avid Nexis storage capacity Support Xendata LTO archiving operations by managing media recalls, archiving deliverables and original content, and maintaining LTO tape inventory Perform media backups and deletions within Avid Nexis, and migrate legacy USB drive libraries to Xendata storage Provide ongoing support for SnapStream on-air monitoring systems, including file backups and retrievals Assist with videotape duplication and DVD creation; serve as backup support for encoding and duplication functions Execute encoding and duplication processes across various video and tape formats Develop and optimize workflows to support evolving production and post-production environments Prepare and deliver digitized assets for non-linear editing systems; perform basic editing as needed Review and validate quality control (QC) reports to ensure content accuracy and compliance Manage file creation, organization, and transcoding processes Embed and organize caption files for distribution Maintain and organize content within the Tversity media library, including shows and promotional assets Create and encode clips, full-length programming, and video-on-demand (VOD) content Perform additional production-related duties as assigned knowledge/skills/abilities:Experience working with common video file formats, including QuickTime, MXF, and MP4 Foundational knowledge of video theory, production, and post-production workflows Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and workflow-related issues Strong proficiency in Windows environments; familiarity with macOS is a plus Advanced working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro Strong working knowledge of Telestream Vantage Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Working knowledge of CaptionMaker Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team setting Willingness to support additional production-related duties as needed Positive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on resolving technical and engineering challenges Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Compliance with all required Network and Urban One trainings and associated deadlines Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Education and/or ExpeRience: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in media production, engineering or a related field.
