Nonprofit Marketing Volunteer
Project Canis is a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started by students at the University of Florida to ensure that every shelter animal has a toy. We support cats and dogs in Florida shelters by making and donating toys crafted from recycled materials — reducing waste while improving the lives of animals waiting for their forever homes. As the Marketing Coordinator, you will play a key role in expanding Project Canis’ volunteer network and donor base through targeted digital advertising. Your primary focus will be planning, launching, and optimizing Meta Ads and Google Ads campaigns that help us reach new supporters, increase donations, and recruit volunteers across Florida. You’ll also support content creation, maintain a library of animal photos, and collaborate with our team to ensure our messaging is consistent, mission‑aligned, and impactful across platforms.ResponsibilitiesPlan, build, and optimize Meta Ads and Google Ads campaigns to drive volunteer sign‑ups and donationsTrack performance metrics and recommend improvements to maximize ROI on a limited nonprofit budgetCreate simple promotional graphics and messaging for ads and social postsMaintain a collection of photos and content assets for marketing useCollaborate with the leadership team during monthly virtual meetingsQualificationsDegree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field2–3 hours per week of consistent commitmentAbility to attend virtual monthly meetingsExperience with Meta Ads Manager and/or Google Ads (coursework or hands‑on experience both count)Passion for animals, sustainability, and community impactSelf‑disciplined, proactive, and comfortable working independentlyStrong communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitudePosition TypeUnpaid (Volunteer) with a small incentive‑based stipend.Learn more about us at www.projectcanis.org and follow us on Instagram and Facebook @theprojectcanis.
