Software Development Engineer, Kiro Web
Overview
In this role you will build the server-side backbone for Kiro Web, an AI-powered development environment. You will design and maintain a robust backend that orchestrates AI agent processes, manages real-time messaging, and powers multi-agent coordination and distribution. You will work across session lifecycles, WebSocket fan-out, and REST APIs to deliver a scalable development platform. This is a hands-on, systems-focused role with impact from local developer tooling to world-wide distribution. You’ll shape the architecture and help Kiro scale to millions of developers.

ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain the Kiro Web server (Fastify/Node.js/TypeScript) including session manager, ACP client adapter, WebSocket gateway, and REST APIImplement per-session process architecture: spawn and manage kiro-cli ACP child processes and JSON-RPC 2.0 communicationDevelop multi-agent team orchestration: session lifecycle, inter-agent prompt routing, topology validation, parallel dispatch, and skill injectionDesign WebSocket fan-out to multiplex notifications across ACP processes to browsers, with tagging by session/team/roleCreate and operate multi-platform distribution: metadata services, platform detection, CDN configuration (CloudFront), and release automationImplement tool approval interception: pause execution on permission requests, relay approval decisions from frontend to agentsWrite tests, set up monitoring/alerting, participate in on-call rotationsContribute to API design, architecture reviews, and technical direction
