This position assists the Senior Chemist in providing innovative solutions for products to exceed customer needs through new product development, incremental product development, sustaining product integrity, new or improved test development, and data analysis through experiment design and research. This position will research, prepare, evaluate, and characterize formulations supporting technical activities. In addition to these duties, the position will be responsible for lab organization and taking charge of equipment maintenance scheduling to prevent downtime.Essential Functions:Maintains lab organization, supplies inventory, safety, and instrument calibrationsSets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment for testing various formulationsTests formulations and communicates results to senior chemistsMaintains chemical inventory and observes proper chemical waste proceduresPerforms regular sample testing for long-term experimentsProvides customer service in the form of timely sample shipment and communication with the internal customer service and logistics functionsInvestigates customer complaints related to material issues and assists in the investigation for a solutionSupports scale-up/manufacturing via raw material shipment and quality controlOther duties and projects as assignedJob Requirements:Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemicals or Materials Engineering, or related field; Associate's degree; or High School Diploma/GEDBachelor's degree: formulating lab experience and testing relevant materialAssociate's degree: 1-2-year experience formulating lab experience and testing relevant material.High school diploma/GED: 2+ years of formulating lab experience and testing relevant materialProficient computer skills, spreadsheet & word processing skills, intermediate math skillsGood communication skills, detailed oriented, team player mentality Physical Requirements:Precise hand movements to operate instruments, handle chemicals, and manipulate small samplesAbility to manipulate small tools and equipment with precisionStanding for extended periods while performing experiments and monitoring equipmentMay need to lift and carry containers or supplies up to 40 lbsSharp vision, including the ability to distinguish colors, is essential for precisely reading measurements and recognizing substancesAbility to hear alarms and other audible cues from equipment.Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access office machinery, accomplish tasks, or travel from one worksite to another.AGC Chemicals Americas, Inc. is committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy (including childbirth, lactation, and related medical conditions), national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information (including characteristics and testing), military and veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.This policy applies to all aspects of employment such as hiring, recruiting, and promotion.
