We are looking for a Software Acquisition Engineer (Software Architecture Engineering and Systems Software Engineering) to join our growing Software Systems and Acquisition Department. Our customers in the Space Force, Air Force, NASA, NOAA, other federal agencies, and commercial industry need your help to acquire cutting-edge software capabilities to chase the future!This is a full-time position located at Hill Air Force Base, UT and requires 100% onsite work.What You'll Be DoingBe the go-to person in providing software systems engineering expertise to support effective acquisition of software-reliant systems from pre-acquisition planning through source selection, development, integration and test, and deploymentWork shoulder-to-shoulder with customers and contractors to shape and execute software specifics in complex acquisition programsProvide expertise in rapid iterative and incremental software development approaches (such as Agile, Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework, Lean Software Development, and/or DevSecOps) and assist customers in applying these techniques toward mission successLead engineering analyses and studies such as software requirements development and flow; verification and validation approaches; readiness reviews; risk management; technology planning and insertion; performance assessments; and/or market researchLearn and apply advanced software reliability concepts to ensure the trustworthiness of mission critical systemsResearch challenge problems, test hypotheses, innovate new approaches and tools, and/or prove conceptsMentor junior staff as you grow your own careerWhat You Need to be Successful - [Engineering Specialist - Software Architecture and Systems Software Engineering.]Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, with emphasis in computer science, software engineering, computer or information systems, management sciences, or closely related technical discipline10-12 years of professional software engineering experienceHands-on experience in the development of complex, software-reliant systems.Experience using Agile/DevSecOps software development or Agile project managementExperience or education in reliability methods in general and/or software reliability specifically, including software reliability design and test, reliability block diagram (RBDs), reliability growth modeling, software failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and/or software failure data collection and reportingExperience collaborating on the development of solutions to complex technical problems, including research into applicability of new technologiesProven ability to take initiative and successfully complete tasks, lead complex technical projects, and collaborate effectively.Willingness and ability to travel locally or occasionally overnight to work locations or customer sites domestically approximately 10-20%.This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.How You Can Stand OutIt would be impressive if you have one or more of these:Active or recent SSBI and ability to obtain and maintain SCI accessAdvanced degree from an accredited program in a relevant fieldExperience in at least one of the following: federal government acquisition programs, software reliability, software processes/metrics/quality, software process improvementCurrent certification in one or more relevant technologies (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner, Scaled Agile Framework, cloud architect, etc.) with corresponding experienceProven track record of influencing government and/or contractor decisions processesFamiliarity with space/missile acquisition policies, space/missile systems, and/or advanced space/missile technologies as an employee of the federal government or prime contractorLeadership CompetenciesOur leadership philosophy is simple: every employee, regardless of level and role, can demonstrate leadership.
