Job Description
Must be able to read and understand shop drawings.
Perform dimensional checks to the drawings of all components of the ASME vessels. Know basic weld symbols and can determine required weld prep, weld procedure and weld size.
Evaluate a weld and determine proper size and if there are defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion or cold lap.
Must complete and maintain documentation of test reports. Train new team members.
Communicating the importance of effective quality management and of conforming to the quality assurance program requirements; ensure regulatory compliance.
Must perform and document NDE such as Magnetic particle inspections, Liquid Penetrant testing in accordance with ASME section VIII, Division 1. Must witness and document hydro tests. Act as liaison between shop and third party inspectors. Schedule and work with authorized inspector to ensure his daily activities add value. Schedule and work with Radiographic team to ensure efficiency.
1 Year work experience in writing, evaluating, ASME section IX welding documents or monitoring their use. Demonstrated knowledge of ASME IX, or hold a current CWI credential.
