This role advances high-quality peer tutoring and mentoring models that support students' learning, skill development, and academic confidence.The Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of tutoring and supplemental instruction (SI) for all general education and foundational courses. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating peer tutors and SI leaders across all subject areas. The Coordinator also facilitates peer mentoring programs, either as standalone initiatives or embedded within tutoring services, and provides direct support to students.The Coordinator compiles and reviews data each semester to assess effectiveness and respond to the needs of students. The role also connects with academic departments to integrate peer tutoring, mentoring, and related resources across the campus community.Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership and Program Development - 15%Creates a vision and direction for peer tutoring, academic mentoring, and supplemental instruction (SI) programs.Establishes guidelines and service models to ensure high-quality and equitable tutoring experiences.Oversees all peer tutoring and supplemental instruction initiatives, including co-curricular and course-embedded models, as appropriate.Collaborates with faculty, academic departments, academic advising, and other campus partners to align academic tutoring, mentoring, and SI with curriculum and student needs.Personnel Leadership and Supervision - 20%Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff supporting peer tutoring, SI, and success mentoring programs each semester.Provides ongoing coaching, leadership, guidance, mentoring, and support to foster a positive learning environment for all.Obtains and maintains CRLA tutor and mentor training programs; coordinates with other Student Success Center partners for mentor training and certification.Program Operations - 40%Oversees general day-to-day functions of peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, and success mentoring.Establishes scheduled tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental instruction sessions using a platform that effectively supports scheduling, communication, and data tracking based on student availability and demand.Provides direct academic support to students as needed, including in subject area tutoring and skills development.Assists students preparing for standardized exams such as the PRAXIS.Coordinates and provides tutoring support directly to participants of the TRIO Student Support Services and Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program.Partners with faculty to schedule and promote supplemental instruction (SI) sessions each semester. Promotes department services, benefits, and opportunities to students, faculty, and other staff through workshops, classroom presentations, and other programs that promote student success.Assists with the preparation and management of related budget requests.Partners with other campus resources to serve and refers students as needed.Assessment and Continuous Improvement - 10%Evaluates the success of academic tutoring, supplemental instruction, and peer mentoring programs.Develops and implements assessment strategies to measure program effectiveness and student learning outcomes.Uses qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making, program improvement, and strategic planning.Applies assessment findings to enhance service delivery, scalability, and the overall student experience.Additional Duties - 15%Completes other duties assigned to ensure effective oversight of tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental instruction services and to support continued student success.Teach or co-teach university success course(s).Other tasks to support student retention and graduation.Qualifications:Three years' direct experience in teaching and/or mentoring at the high school or college level.Experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds.Background in education (math, English, and/or science).Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills required.
