Cary Arts Center And Page-Walker Arts & History Center Administrative Role The Cary Arts Center and Page-Walker Arts & History Center are seeking outgoing individuals at least 18 years of age who are enthusiastic about giving back to the community by serving in an administrative role; providing exemplary customer service to citizens visiting or contacting our facilities for programs, classes, performances, rentals and special events. As a Center Aide, you will be part of our citizen support team. Your passion for providing exceptional customer service contributes to our high level of customer satisfaction. Often you will be the initial contact with our citizens, communicating in an open, helpful, and engaging manner, focusing on finding the right solution with each person. This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Locations: Cary Arts Center: 101 Dry Avenue, Cary Page-Walker Arts & History Center: 119 Ambassador Loop, Cary Typical tasks include: Providing a warm welcome to all visitors, as well as above and beyond customer service via in-person, telephone, or email Responding to in-person inquiries in a timely manner with quality service skills Handling room reservation inquiries for private reservations, programs, and events Working rentals and Special Events Assisting with the setup and takedown for events and programs Proactively identifying facility needs and suggesting solutions Keeping citizens in the loop by providing town information and materials or redirecting the citizen to the appropriate staff Notifying patrons of cancellations, changes or updates Modeling personal behavior that is consistent with the Town of Cary values and complying with Cary's policies and procedures Opening and/or closing and securing the facility when assigned Registering citizens for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs, maintaining citizen account records, and selling items Providing town information and materials to citizens or redirecting the citizen to the appropriate staff Assisting in the orientation and training of new temporary staff Enforcing Cary's policies and procedures Performing other job-related tasks as required. Knowledge, skills and abilities include: General knowledge of computers and related software General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and filing systems maintenance General knowledge of cash collection procedures Ability to remain organized, multitask, and meet deadlines Ability to communicate with coworkers and the public tactfully and constructively Ability to work independently Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions Ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center, division and department Minimum and preferred qualifications: Education and experience requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: Some in-person customer service experience. Knowledge of computers and some Microsoft Office 365 proficiency Physical requirements include: Work in this class requires an employee to be able to hear and talk in order to communicate with the public. An employee must be able to climb, walk unassisted and move about freely in order to interact with patrons. Must be able to lift moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs.), such as chairs, 6-foot folding tables, sports equipment and rolling bleachers. Visual acuity is needed to read typewritten and handwritten materials and to view a computer terminal. Part of the work in this class is clerical in nature and may require sitting and use of a computer for extended periods of time.
