The Cary Arts Center and Page-Walker Arts & History Center are seeking outgoing individuals at least 18 years of age who are enthusiastic about giving back to the community by serving in an administrative role; providing exemplary customer service to citizens visiting or contacting our facilities for programs, classes, performances, rentals and special events.As a Center Aide, you will be part of our citizen support team. Your passion for providing exceptional customer service contributes to our high level of customer satisfaction. Often you will be the initial contact with our citizens, communicating in an open, helpful, and engaging manner, focusing on finding the right solution with each person.This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.LocationsCary Arts Center: 101 Dry Avenue, CaryPage-Walker Arts & History Center: 119 Ambassador Loop, CaryProvide a warm welcome to all visitors, as well as above and beyond customer service via in-person, telephone, or emailRespond to in-person inquiries in a timely manner with quality service skillsHandle room reservation inquiries for private reservations, programs, and eventsWork rentals and Special EventsAssist with the setup and takedown for events and programsProactively identify facility needs and suggest solutionsKeep citizens in the loop by providing Town information and materials or redirect the citizen to the appropriate staffNotifies patrons of cancelations, changes or updatesModel personal behavior that is consistent with the Town of Cary values and complies with Cary's policies and proceduresOpen and/or close and secures the facility when assignedRegister citizens for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs, maintains citizen account records, and sell itemsProvide town information and materials to citizens or redirects the citizen to the appropriate staffAssists in the orientation and training of new temporary staffEnforces Cary's policies and proceduresPerform other job-related tasks as required.General knowledge of computers and related softwareGeneral knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and filing systems maintenanceGeneral knowledge of cash collection proceduresAbility to remain organized, multitask, and meet deadlinesAbility to communicate with coworkers and the public tactfully and constructivelyAbility to work independentlyAbility to understand and carry out verbal and written instructionsAbility to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center, division and departmentEducation and ExperienceRequires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:* Some in-person customer service experience.* Knowledge of computers and some Microsoft Office 365 proficiencyPhysical RequirementsWork in this class requires an employee to be able to hear and talk in order to communicate with the public. An employee must be able to climb, walk unassisted and move about freely in order to interact with patrons. Must be able to lift moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs.), such as chairs, 6-foot folding tables, sports equipment and rolling bleachers. Visual acuity is needed to read typewritten and handwritten materials and to view a computer terminal. Part of the work in this class is clerical in nature and may require sitting and use of a computer for extended periods of time.Conditions of EmploymentRequires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal history check, SBI finger-printing, motor vehicle records check, education verification and credit history review) and satisfactory reference checks prior to employment.
