Position OverviewThe Director of Content Strategy leads the development and execution of a comprehensive content marketing strategy for TIAA's Wealth Marketing team. This role drives editorial direction across a growing portfolio of channels, including a monthly newsletter, web, organic social, webinars, and client communications, ensuring that content consistently engages and educates audiences whether they are prospects exploring wealth management options or existing clients navigating key financial milestones. Working in close partnership with the Chief Investment Office (CIO) organization, Distribution, Digital & Customer Experience, and the Retirement Solutions Content Marketing team, this director-level position balances strategic vision with hands-on writing and operational execution while directing a team of two content professionals.Key Responsibilities And DutiesDevelop and own the strategic content roadmap for Wealth Marketing, defining channel priorities, audience segmentation approaches, and editorial standardsLeverage audience insights and performance data to develop a deep understanding of what resonates with target audiences and apply those learnings to continuously refine the content roadmap, editorial priorities, and channel strategies.Expand the content program into emerging channels including webinars, digital platforms, and personalized client communications or campaignsTranslate complex financial and investment topics into accessible, engaging narratives that reflect TIAA's expertise and resonate with target audiencesPartner closely with the Retirement Solutions Content Marketing team to share content, align on shared audiences, and elevate best practices across both teamsLead, mentor, and develop a team of two content professionals responsible for producing and distributing articles across the monthly newsletter, web, and organic social channelsOversee editorial planning and content calendars, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content across all channelsServe as the content strategy subject matter expert and thought partner for senior leaders across Marketing, the CIO organization, Distribution, and Digital & Customer ExperienceBuild and maintain strong cross-functional relationships, navigating competing priorities and aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared content visionLead cross-functional working teams to execute content initiatives requiring coordination across creative, legal, compliance, and marketing operationsEducational RequirementsUniversity (Degree) PreferredWork Experience5+ Years Required; 7+ Years PreferredPhysical RequirementsPhysical Requirements: Sedentary WorkCareer Level8ICRequired:5+ years of experience in content strategy, content marketing, or editorial leadership in financial servicesPreferred:7+ years of experience in content strategy, content marketing, or editorial leadership in financial servicesBachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related fieldExperience presenting content strategies, editorial plans, and performance results to executive audiences, adapting communication style to different stakeholders’ needsExperience with financial services regulations (FINRA, SEC)2+ years of people management experienceProven track record developing and executing multi-channel content strategies that deliver measurable engagement and business resultsStrong writing and editorial judgment with the ability to craft and evaluate content across formats and audiencesExperience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organizationFamiliarity with audience segmentation and content personalization strategiesKnowledge of SEO principles and content performance measurementProficiency with content management systems and digital publishing platformsRelated SkillsAdaptability, Audience-focused Communication, Communication Channel Management, Communication Strategy, Consultative Communication, Content Development, Copywriting, Relationship Management, Story Telling, TIAA Products/Services AcumenAnticipated Posting End Date:2026-06-01Base Pay Range: $103,000/yr - $146,000/yrActual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
