As a trainee, the Assistant Construction Manager will learn responsibility for planning, organizing and directing the construction of homes while meeting the company's objectives of performance, cost, quality, and safety. The Assistant Construction Manager will learn responsibility for coordination of all customer meetings and on-site walks from home start through completion, and to be the customer's primary point of contact from the pre-construction meeting. Delivering on the company Mission to the customer during the construction process is the primary focus.ResponsibilitiesOn the job training will be provided for reading and understanding house plans, plot plans, and to gain a knowledge of construction related terms and codesCoordinates all construction activities to achieve 100% completion on schedule, within budget and in conformance to plans, specifications and standardsIdentify and solve problems with the Senior Construction Manager Mentor before they affect critical path for on time deliveryCommands respect of customers and vendors through consistent delivery of commitments and expectationsExhibits tact, consideration, and patience in difficult situationsInteracts and communicates clearly with coworkers, clients and vendors in a courteous, friendly mannerApproaches sudden, unexpected challenges effectively with confidenceEffectively and accurately communicates relevant information to the customer on a weekly basisLearns and enforces company safety policy with trade partners and company employeesMaintains an organized job site including the construction officeCommunicates plan errors / inconsistencies to Senior Construction Manager Mentor as soon as they are discoveredKeeps the Senior Construction Manager Mentor and appropriate parties informed about production status and issues that may impact delivery of the Mission. Be prepared for weekly backlog meetings and neighborhood meetings with the sales teamEffectively manages communication between Sales, Closing Coordinators, and Purchasing as neededSkillsStrong Scheduling & Time Management: Ability to support jobsite scheduling, track progress, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced construction environment.Effective Communication: Clear, professional communication with trade partners, team members, inspectors, and homeowners.Attention to Detail: Commitment to high-quality work, accurate documentation, and adherence to construction standards.Problem-Solving Ability: Adaptable and resourceful when addressing field issues, delays, or unexpected challenges.Foundational Construction Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction phases, building components, and reading plans; willingness to learn and grow technical expertise.Safety Awareness: Knowledge of OSHA fundamentals and dedication to maintaining a safe and compliant job site.Strong Organization & Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate records, manage jobsite logistics, and utilize construction software or mobile applications.Customer Service Orientation: Professional demeanor and ability to interact with homeowners, address questions, and support walkthroughs.Reliable Work Ethic: Dependable, proactive, and eager to work hands-on in the field.Ability to integrate and apply the company's PACT framework in all job functions.RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent required.Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management preferredMinimum of 1 year of construction related work is preferredValid Driver's License.Additional RequirementsThis is an on-site position based in the Polk County, FL area and will require relocation if you are not currently located in the area.This is a non-exempt role, and any overtime worked requires prior approval from management.
