Temporary Opportunity - Accounting Internship

OverviewPartners with the Accounting and Finance teams to support the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related financial subsystems. This role is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions, preparing and posting routine journal entries, supporting financial reporting activities, and assisting with internal controls and audit requests. The position contributes to timely, accurate, and compliant financial operations in support of the organization's accounting objectives.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger and Journal Entry SupportPrepare and post routine journal entries related to accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid assets, and accruals.Maintain accuracy of general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.Accounts Payable and Vendor ManagementProcess approved invoices, intercompany billings, and related entries in a timely manner.Maintain accurate vendor records and accounts payable files.Internal Controls and Audit SupportAssist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting.Respond to requests from internal and external auditors and examiners.Financial Reporting AssistanceSupport preparation of financial and external reports as assigned.Ensure data accuracy and consistency across accounting systems.Administrative and Team SupportMaintain organized accounting records and documentation.Provide support to the Accounting and Finance team and perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.Strong reading, writing, mathematical, and analytical skills with the ability to prepare clear documentation.Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information, identify issues, and recommend solutions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize tasks, and manage workflow efficiently.EEO StatementTompkins is committed to a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity ("EEO") with respect to all team members and applicants for employment and a work environment free from discrimination (including unlawful harassment) based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, gender non-conformity, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, age, marital status, domestic violence victim status, disability, predisposing genetic characteristics, military or veteran status or status in any group protected by federal, state, or local law.For more information, please click herePay RangeUSD $18.00 - USD $18.00 /Hr.
