The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThe Associate Director, Finance supports the financial operations of the Department of Radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and serves as a key partner to departmental leadership in advancing strategic, operational, and financial objectives. Reporting to the Department Administrator/Chief Administrative Officer, the Associate Director is responsible for leading financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and procurement oversight across clinical, research, and administrative functions.This role collaborates closely with operational leaders, faculty, and central finance teams to promote fiscal stewardship, strengthen financial performance, and ensure alignment with University and NewYork-Presbyterian policies and proceduresResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning & AnalysisLead the preparation, monitoring, and reconciliation of annual operating and capital budgets in partnership with the Department Administrator/Chief Administrative Officer.Develop financial forecasts, variance analyses, and executive-level reporting to support departmental decision-making.Analyze clinical and operational performance metrics, including volume, revenue, expense, and productivity trends.Support development of pro formas and financial models for new initiatives, program expansion, and strategic investments.Identify risks and opportunities impacting financial performance and recommend mitigation strategies.Procurement & Financial Operations OversightOversee departmental procurement activities, ensuring compliance with Columbia University purchasing policies.Partner with operational leaders to manage purchasing workflows, vendor relationships, and contract alignment with financial plans.Monitor purchase order activity, capital equipment requests, and supply expenses to ensure appropriate utilization of funds.Collaborate with Supply Chain and Accounts Payable teams to streamline procurement processes, improve transparency, and strengthen internal controls.Support implementation of cost-containment strategies and sourcing initiatives aligned with departmental financial goals.Clinical Operational Finance SupportProvide financial guidance to clinical and administrative leaders to support responsible resource management.Assist in monitoring faculty practice and clinical enterprise performance, including revenue and expense tracking.Monitor budget and actuals associated with clinical compensation model and monthly additional compensation entries.Oversee allocation of services provided to clinical activities, including administrative overhead, revenue cycle services and physics support.Research Finance SupportProvide financial guidance to research and administrative leaders to support responsible resource management.Oversee monitoring commitments made to research recruitments and development of business plans for new recruits.Collaborative development of annual budgets and monthly tracking of research imaging and related services provided to the research community.Develop dashboards and reporting tools to improve financial visibility of the performance of department's research enterprise.Ensure compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and internal audit standards.Leadership & CollaborationSupervise and mentor finance staff, fostering professional development and strong analytical capabilities.Serve as a liaison between the Department of Radiology and CUIMC central finance, procurement, and compliance teams.Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, standardization, and data integrity.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience, preferably within healthcare, academicEqual Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranColumbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
