Come join our team!Municipal & Public Sector Sales Representatives are responsible for renewing existing municipal contracts, while also pursuing any new opportunities within the assigned market. This position prospects, sells, manages, and participates in account management activities to ensure the profitable sales growth of municipalities, government entities, parks, government recreational facilities, department of transportation facilities, public colleges/universities, government institutions, and solid waste districts.Shift: FlexibleResponsibilities of Position:Manage business relationships for the municipal market, negotiate pricing, contracts, and contract extensions, and ensure contract terms are metProspect and develop opportunities to bid on all government entities within the market areaTrack current contract information on all existing and new governmental agreementsProvide monthly reports on all activities relating to an area of coverageAttend municipal and governmental meetings relating to waste and recycling initiatives (some evenings/weekends)Prepare and deliver responses to client issues and follow up directly with key decision-makersMeet regularly with key decision-makers within assigned municipalities, and state and federal agencies to address issues and foster relationshipsAttend local industry trade shows and participate in local chambers or other community associations and trade groups (some evenings/weekends)Develop and implement approved strategies and activities to increase penetration and satisfaction to serve as primary point of contact to ensure profitable client retentionAssist Region Controller on all municipal/governmental bidsPrepare annual budget information for the municipal line of businessUtilize the company's CMS, scheduling and documenting activities, and developing customer profilesComplete required Customer Service Agreements, reports, and other paperwork in a timely manner and in accordance with Company policyRegularly meet with Sales Manager to review weekly sales activities and status of customersPerform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibility:* This position will not manage employeesSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:Ability to present and communicate in a professional mannerDetailed understanding of municipal/public sector governmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to develop and monitor account retention plans, business measurements, budgets, marketing strategies, and SWOT (strength/weakness/opportunity/threat) analysesStrong organizational and time management skills are requiredMust be available to support municipal contract maintenance and development after hours as neededProficient in Windows and Microsoft applications AS/400 and Lotus Notes experience preferredPossess strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skillsExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing /Sales Management, or related field is preferred5 years of relevant experience in municipal/public sector contract administration or equivalent experienceWaste industry experience, a plusPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbsRarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbsFrequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditionsFrequently working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterRarely climbing and/or balancingContinuously sittingFrequently standing/walkingAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areasExposure to residential and commercial wasteAbility to travel between offices, as requiredAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as neededAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidaysMust be available for 24-hour emergency callsLegally eligible to work in the United StatesValid driver's license (if applicable)Must successfully complete pre-employment testingMust be able to read and speak the English languageThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
