The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.Position Summary:The Aviation Dispatch & Operations Assistant supports daily aviation operations by assisting with the scheduling and dispatch of aircraft and simulators while ensuring safe and efficient flight activities. Working closely with the Dispatch Supervisor, this role verifies flight plans, monitors weather, tracks aircraft, maintains accurate records, and coordinates scheduling with students, instructors, and staff. Additional responsibilities include opening and closing facilities, supporting maintenance coordination and aircraft reporting, assisting with hangar organization, and promoting compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) standards. This position requires strong communication skills - including radio communication with aircraft - proficiency in Microsoft Office, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.Primary Responsibilities:Assist the Dispatch Supervisor in managing tasks related to the scheduling and dispatching of aircraft and simulators, as well as other dispatch operations-related responsibilitiesVerify flight plans, review weather, track aircraft, maintain necessary records, and provide reports as neededCommunicate with students, flight instructors, and other operations staff on scheduling and dispatch needs and coordinate all related activitiesOpen and close the Babka Aviation Learning center and other UD facilitiesAssist with the coordination of maintenance-related activities and squawking of aircraft with the aviation maintenance staffWing watch if needed and coordinate stacking of aircraft in hangarsSupport the Director of Aviation Safety to ensure compliance with SMS requirementsDrive the aviation shuttle vans as requiredEngage in life-long learning and scholarship opportunities to continuously enhance the Aviation Program and the furtherance of its safety culturePerform other duties as assigned in support of the University's missionPosition Skills and Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively via radio with aircraft, as well as through verbal and written communicationExceptional skills using Microsoft Office and other computer softwareAbility to remain seated at a workstation for extended periods of timeAbility to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environmentDetail-orientedRequirements:High school diploma or equivalent RequiredValid US driver's licenseAbility to pass an FAA/DOT drug testExperience in dispatching or similar operations in an aviation or non-aviation environment is preferredBasic computer skills and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite are preferredTo apply with a growing faith-based University for the Aviation Dispatch & Operations Assistant position, please submit a UD Employment Application (https://www.dbq.edu/AboutUD/Employment/OnlineApplicationforEmployment/) with an attached cover letter, resume, and three professional references or email application materials to hr@dbq.edu .Affirmation Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
