Sr. Application Developer/Engineer/Programmer

This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver scalable Python services, shape AWS infrastructure, and contribute to solutions that emphasize quality, reliability, and strong engineering practices.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain Python-based microservices and cloud infrastructure using AWS CDKDesign and support business workflows with AWS Step FunctionsBuild containerized applications with RESTful APIsImplement logging, monitoring, and audit trails using tools such as CloudWatch and CloudTrailParticipate in code reviews with a focus on maintainability, performance, and best practicesWrite and improve unit and integration tests, and support code remediation effortsContribute to architecture discussions and technical documentationPartner with stakeholders to turn business needs into effective technical solutionsSkills7+ years of software development experience with SDLC and Agile methodologiesStrong production experience with Python and modern development frameworksHands-on experience with AWS CDK and infrastructure-as-code practicesExperience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines for cloud applicationsSolid understanding of RESTful API design, versioning, and error handlingProficiency with Git workflows, branching strategies, and merge request reviewsExperience working with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and CloudTrailAbility to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailPreferred SkillsExperience with Terraform in addition to AWS CDKFamiliarity with frontend technologies such as Angular or React with TypeScriptExposure to AWS services like SNS/SQS, Athena, Glue, and load balancersExperience using AI-assisted development tools for code review, documentation, debugging, and test developmentAbility to evaluate and refine AI-generated code thoughtfullyBackground in building solutions for regulated or highly secure environmentsHorizontal is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued, respected, and supported.
