This is a highly technical, hands-on role requiring strong capabilities in both patternmaking and in-house prototype construction. building a world shaped by craftsmanship, artistry, and enduring design.As we continue to grow and prepare for our Spring/Summer 2027 collection, we are looking for team members with rigor, taste, and curiosity who are excited to help shape the next chapter.See the latest collection at www.moutoniere.com and follow us on Instagram @moutoniere.Position Overview:This role is highly hands-on and technical, requiring someone who can translate design intent into beautifully resolved garments with precision, efficiency, and care.The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in patternmaking, garment construction, fit, and product development, with the ability to move fluidly between sketch interpretation, technical documentation, prototype construction, fittings, and pattern corrections.This person will work closely with the founders and product team to help shape styles through each stage of development - ensuring they are both aesthetically exceptional and technically sound.This is a rare opportunity for someone excited by craftsmanship, technical problem-solving, and the process of building garments from the ground up within a growing luxury environment.Key Responsibilities:Patternmaking & Fit DevelopmentDevelop first patterns from flat sketches, reference materials, and design directionInterpret silhouette, proportion, and construction intent into accurate sample patternsRevise and refine patterns following fittings, prototype reviews, and internal feedbackExecute fit corrections and pattern updates with strong attention to balance, proportion, and garment performanceMaintain organized and accurate pattern files, development records, and version controlPrototype ConstructionSew, assemble, and finish development prototypes and first samples in-houseEvaluate construction methods and propose solutions that support both design integrity and manufacturabilityTroubleshoot technical and construction issues throughout the development processSupport the physical realization of each garment to a high standard of quality and finishTechnical Documentation Create and update tech packs, construction notes, and technical development documentationBuild and maintain BOMs, cutter’s musts, line sheets, and related development documents to support sampling and productionEnsure all technical information is consistently documented and aligned across development stagesCross-Functional Product Development SupportPartner closely with design and product development to bring apparel styles from concept to production-ready stageContribute to fittings and support garment refinement through multiple development roundsHelp prepare styles for handoff to external sample rooms, grading partners, and factoriesSupport the team in establishing strong internal development processes as the brand continues to growPreferred QualificationsStrong foundation in patternmaking, garment construction, fit development, and technical executionProven ability to independently create patterns, sew prototypes, and execute fitting correctionsStrong understanding of tailoring, luxury finishing, textile development, and product development workflowsExperience creating tech packs and technical development documentationExperience with fluid fabrics (such as silk, bias, drape) and/or structured garments (such as outerwear or tailoring) strongly valuedDegree in fashion design, technical design, or equivalent professional training preferredExceptional early-career candidates with advanced technical training may be considered.Strong plus if you have:Ability to complete marking and grading in-houseExperience with industry-standard patternmaking or CAD software such as CLO3D and Gerber.Experience preparing production-ready pattern files and supporting factory handoffPrior experience in luxury, contemporary, or elevated ready-to-wear environmentsPersonal Attributes / “Who You Are”:Highly technical, detail-oriented, and precise in executionComfortable working in a hands-on, fast-moving, and collaborative environmentAble to balance design sensitivity with practical technical problem-solvingOrganized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities across development timelinesExcited by the opportunity to help build and refine an in-house apparel development functionSuccess in This Role Looks LikePatterns are developed accurately and efficiently from concept through prototypeFittings are translated into precise, thoughtful correctionsGarments maintain luxury-level fit, finish, and integrityDevelopment systems become increasingly organized, scalable, and production-readyProduct is executed with both technical precision and design sensitivityWhy This Role:This is a rare opportunity to join a growing luxury house at a formative stage and play a meaningful role in shaping how apparel is developed internally.The right candidate will be deeply involved in the technical realization of the collection and will help establish the standards, systems, and rigor that define Moutonière’s next phase of growth.This is a full-time W-2 position based in Austin, Texas, with dedicated in-house workspace including a private cutting studio within Moutonière’s office and showroom just off South Congress.For the right candidate, this role offers the opportunity to work hands-on within a thoughtfully built creative environment while helping shape the technical foundation of an emerging luxury house.Benefits include:Full-time W-2 employmentDental insuranceVision insuranceDedicated in-office cutting studio and development workspaceDirect collaboration with founders and product leadershipOpportunity to help build and refine Moutonière’s internal apparel development function from the ground up
