Controller
This role will oversee the accounting and finance for a profitable $30M Manufacturing organization and will report to the CEO and responsible for managing a team of 2-3 staff responsible for all month end and year end close activities, cost accounting, financial statement reporting, variance review, external audit, and tax compliance. Perform data analysis on accounting transactions. The CEO is looking for someone who is dynamic and can partner with business operations to create greater efficiencies and develop reporting metrics to drive efficiency.Mentor department (3)responsible for GL accounting, financial reporting, AP and ARImplement appropriate inventory internal controls and process improvements and support standard and project cost accounting systemRetain banking, CPA firm, and insurance relationships including yearly vendor renewalInteract directly with the independent auditor’s year end audit and tax compliance preparation.Work with the Accounting Supervisor to improve month end close processesPrepare budgeting, forecasting, and monthly presentations to executive leadership team.Lead ERP system process improvementsREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Economics.Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA preferred10-15 years of relevant accounting experience, management and FP&A for complex manufacturing environments. Expert knowledge of cost accounting, project accounting and inventory valuationAdvanced PC skills with high proficiency in Excel and data analytics requiredExcellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to work seamlessly as part of a team or independently.Experience with ERP systems & implementations·Responsibilities:Responsible for all financial accounting processes and financial reporting for corporate and manufacturing facilitiesReview standard costs for all items and update them on an annual basis in addition to project accounting for services. Develop annual budgets / forecastsLead inventory management including logistic tracking, inventory demand planning and product movement.Manage Bill of Materials set up for all items produced and complete variance analysis for changes during the year.Provide weekly variable labor cost performance data and period spending to various plant teams.Support manufacturing cycle count process and inventory physical counts.Coordinate, review, and approve all monthly account reconciliations.Ensure all necessary journal entries are processed accurately and timely.Drive the mitigation of any control gaps ensuring solid financial controls are in place.Assist in the identification, analysis, and tracking of plant cost reduction projects.EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:Qualifications & Experience:B.S./B.A. degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance or Economics required; CPA is a plus.Position requires 5+ years of Inventory, project accounting and standard cost accounting experienceExperience with team leadership of 4+ staffStrong Excel skills are required.Attention to detail, and strong organizational and prioritization skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated leadership and influence skills.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
