Job Overview The Pipe Superintendent is a senior field leader responsible for managing daily pipeline operations and serving as the primary link between the master schedule and site production. This role coordinates multiple pipe crews and subcontractors across complex large-diameter sanitary sewer, water, and stormwater projects This position is accountable for site safety, production rates, quality control, and the development of internal field talent. Review plans, drawings, and blueprints to identify design conflicts or utility interferences before they impact the field. Ensure company and OSHA compliance with a focus on deep trench excavation, shoring/shielding, and heavy equipment operating. Track daily production and manage labor, equipment, and material budgets. Ensure proper installation, bedding, and jointing across all material types - including DIP, CCFRPM, Steel, PVC, HDPE, and PCCP. Manage the field execution of complex tie-ins and non-standard installations (aerial, subaqueous, and wetland crossings). Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Proven track record of leadership in heavy civil underground utilities, water/wastewater infrastructure, or major pipe-laying operations. Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of utility construction methods, including deep excavations, shoring systems, dewatering operations, and precise rigging/handling of heavy-diameter pipe. Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of production rates, cost tracking, resource scheduling, and budget management. Leadership: Proven ability to manage multiple crews, coordinate subcontractors, and mentor Foremen in technical and leadership skills. Safety: OSHA 30-Hour Construction, Confined Space Entry, and Trenching/Excavation Competent Person certifications are preferred. Logistics: Valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for travel between regional job sites.
