Development Associate

The Development Associate is essential to advancing the Foundation’s fundraising and donor stewardship efforts. This full-time position helps to develop and implement structures to support the relational work of donor engagement, event coordination, and database management (for CRM/donors/fundholders). The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and service-minded—someone who takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly while also being motivated by the mission-driven work of building an endowment for our region and strengthening our community. As a member of a small team, this position requires the ability to work collaboratively with all staff to best serve our constituents. Organizational goals include expanding and diversifying giving opportunities, creating clear, intentional and inclusive messaging and storytelling that celebrates the impact of local giving.Reports To: Vice President for DevelopmentExemption Status: Non-Exempt, full-time positionWork Week: 37.5 hoursLocation: In-OfficeSalary Range: $60,000-$65,000 annuallyKey ResponsibilitiesFundraising & Donor StewardshipCollaborate with the Vice President for Development to:Enhance stewardship initiatives to deepen donor relationships and connectivity.Develop and manage structured stewardship systems including: segmenting acknowledgments, creating fund impact reports and developing tiered recognition plans.Assist with materials to support proposals, briefings and cultivation plans.Collaborate with leadership to build the major donor pipeline.Assist with donor tracking and cultivation activities utilizing the Foundation’s CRM database (Foundant/C-Suite).Assist with the creation and coordination of fundraising appeals and targeted solicitations, annual mailings, and special events.Identify opportunities to engage new audiences in the Foundation’s work such as professional advisors, business leaders, alumni of CFGCR’s leadership training.Event CoordinationWith direction and support from the Vice President for Development, coordinate one major fundraising event annually (e.g., Raise the Region) Community Foundation's 2025 Raise the Region luncheon, including invitations, guest lists, registration, catering, vendors, and logistics.Support the planning and implementation of stewardship events (e.g., Board of Directors/Past Leadership gatherings, Legacy Circle events) and other social and virtual events.Provide on-site support and coordination during all Foundation events.Build relationships with venues, vendors, and partners; help manage contracts and budgets.Database ManagementEnter and update database records for donors, prospects, volunteers and community leaders to support events, and mailings.Generate mailing lists, reports, and data queries as needed.Coordinate and improve organizational fundraising systems and processes to increase efficiency and data integrity.Update Constant Contact and other communications platforms as necessary; ensure all donor contacts are logged.Communications SupportSupport the Director of Marketing and Communications with donor-facing content, including reports, event materials, and fund updates.Assist with the production and distribution of the Annual Report and other Foundation publications https://cfgcr.org/about/annual-reports/.GeneralProvide staff support as needed to board committees.Participate in office and Foundation meetings and activities as necessary.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsWe recognize that people gain skills and expertise through many paths. We encourage candidates with a variety of educational, professional, and lived experiences, and anyone who feels passionate about this work, to apply.Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent with relevant office experience considered.2+ years of experience in office administration, fundraising, event planning, donor relations, nonprofit administration, or a related field.Strong customer service orientation with a welcoming, professional demeanor.Comfort managing and manipulating donor databases and CRM systems (experience with C-Suite/Foundant a plus).Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact) a plus.Self-motivated.Strong time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, monitor, and respond to changes quickly.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.Comfort working both independently and collaboratively within a small team.Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.Summary of BenefitsPaid benefit time includes vacation, sick and 13 holidays.403(b) immediate eligibility with company matching up to six percent of wages after six-months of employment.Company paid life insurance and additional short-term disability.About the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital RegionSince 1968, the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region has worked to strengthen the greater Capital Region through philanthropy.
