Senior React Native Engineer, AI Products & Mobile PlatformReports to: Director of EngineeringLocation: Austin, TXAbout the RoleinKind is seeking a Senior React Native Engineer to join one of our cross-functional product pods focused on building intelligent, AI-powered consumer and restaurant experiences.This is not a traditional mobile engineering role. We are looking for a highly adaptable product engineer who thrives in a fast-moving environment, leverages AI tooling daily, and enjoys owning meaningful product outcomes from concept to production.You will operate inside a small, autonomous pod structure alongside product managers, designers, backend engineers, data/AI engineers, and QA partners. Each pod is responsible for rapidly shipping and iterating on customer-facing features, internal operational tools, and AI-enabled experiences that power the future of the restaurant ecosystem.You'll play a key role in scaling our React Native platform while helping integrate modern AI workflows, LLM-powered product experiences, and AI-assisted engineering practices across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesMobile Product DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain high-quality React Native applications for iOS and AndroidBuild performant, scalable, and maintainable mobile experiencesCollaborate closely with your pod to rapidly prototype and ship new featuresPartner with product and design teams to translate business goals into elegant technical solutionsAI-Enabled Product ExperiencesBuild mobile interfaces and workflows that integrate AI-powered capabilities and LLM-driven experiencesCollaborate with backend and AI engineering teams to support recommendation systems, conversational experiences, personalization, and intelligent automationIntegrate with modern AI infrastructure and APIs where appropriateHelp define best practices for AI-native mobile product experiencesAI-Assisted Engineering PracticesLeverage AI coding agents and modern developer tooling to accelerate engineering velocityEvaluate and improve workflows using AI-assisted development practicesMaintain strong engineering judgment while validating AI-generated code and architectural suggestionsContribute to engineering efficiency through automation and tooling improvementsArchitecture & PerformanceOptimize rendering, state management, app startup time, memory usage, and overall mobile performanceWork across React Native and native platform integrations when necessaryImprove application observability, reliability, and scalabilityHelp shape frontend architecture and technical direction across podsQuality & CollaborationWrite clean, testable, well-documented Typescript codeParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering planningBuild and maintain automated tests and CI/CD workflowsShare knowledge and mentor other engineers across the organizationContribute to a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, speed, and continuous improvementMinimum Qualifications5+ years of professional experience building React Native applicationsStrong expertise with Typescript and modern React architectureExperience working in fast-paced startup or product-led engineering environmentsStrong understanding of mobile application performance optimizationExperience integrating REST APIs and third-party servicesStrong understanding of complex state management patterns (Redux, Zustand, React Query, Context, etc.)Experience working with agents, LLM tooling, or AI-assisted development workflowsAbility to move quickly through large codebases and ambiguous technical challengesStrong debugging and systems-thinking capabilitiesProduct-minded engineering approach with strong ownership mentalityPreferred QualificationsExperience building AI-powered product features or integrating LLM APIsFamiliarity with vector search, recommendation systems, RAG architectures, or conversational interfacesExperience with React.js web applicationsExperience with native mobile development (Swift, Kotlin, Java, Objective-C, C++)Experience designing scalable frontend/mobile architectureBenefits & Perks at inKindAt inKind, we believe supporting our employees goes beyond compensation.
