Accounting Supervisor

This opportunity is located within our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company business, a global leader of mission-critical hardware and systems solutions including precision energetics systems and innovative explosive solutions.Job DescriptionPosition Summary:The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and company policies. This role supervises accounting staff, supports month-end and year-end close processes, and partners cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.The Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in strengthening financial controls, improving processes, and supporting the organization's financial objectives.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & CloseSupervise and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesReview and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentationEnsure timely and accurate preparation of financial statementsMonitor and analyze balance sheet and income statement accountsGeneral Accounting & ControlsMaintain integrity of the general ledgerEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policiesOversee accruals, reserves, and financial estimatesSupport internal and external audit requestsIdentify and implement improvements to internal controlsSupervision & Team LeadershipSupervise, train, and develop accounting staffAssign and review work to ensure accuracy and timelinessEstablish performance expectations and provide regular feedbackFoster a culture of accountability and continuous improvementProcess ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency and standardize processesSupport ERP system enhancements and automation initiativesStrengthen documentation and financial governance practicesCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and other departmentsSupport inventory accounting and related controls (if applicable)Assist leadership with financial analysis and reporting needsQualifications:Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required5-7+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior supervisory or leadership experience preferred, even indirectlyPublic accounting experience a plusCPA preferred (or in progress)Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of GAAPAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong understanding of internal controlsCore CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environmentEffective written and verbal communication skillsLeadership presence with the ability to influence cross-functionallyProcess-oriented mindset with focus on continuous improvementWork EnvironmentOffice-based positionMay require occasional extended hours during close cycles or auditsEnsign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
