Position Summary
The Quality Engineer — Aero Engineering is responsible for leading quality planning approvals, investigation activities, corrective action initiatives, and technical quality support across aerospace manufacturing programs. This role works closely with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Supply Chain Quality, and Inspection teams to ensure compliance, product integrity, and continuous improvement across processes and products.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Planning & Job Approval
Lead Planning Approval process activities in coordination with the QA team
Lead Planning Job Approval activities to ensure manufacturing readiness and compliance
Review and verify manufacturing plans for technical and quality accuracy
Ensure planning packages meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements
Investigation & Disposition Activities
Lead investigations related to:
MRB (Material Review Board) items
Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) rejections
Internal and external nonconformances
Drive root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods
Document investigation findings and recommended actions
Present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams
RCCA & Corrective Action Leadership
Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities
Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions
Track effectiveness of corrective actions to closure
Support customer and internal corrective action requests
RMA & Disposition Review
Review RMA (Return Material Authorization) items
Determine technical disposition and required follow-up actions
Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations on resolution paths
Ensure proper documentation and traceability of decisions
Technical Documentation & Process Support
Provide technical support to ME and Quality teams including:
Process Control Documents (PCDs)
Work Instructions (WIs)
Procedures and quality documentation
Write, update, and maintain controlled technical documents
Ensure documentation reflects current process and compliance requirements
Tooling & Inspection Support
Assist with technical evaluation of tooling issues
Work with inspectors and Manufacturing Engineering to:
Evaluate tool design concerns
Recommend corrective improvements
Validate tooling suitability and compliance
Support first article and validation activities as needed
Continuous Improvement
Partner with Quality Manager on continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in process improvement and waste reduction projects
Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities
Support implementation of best practices and standardized methods
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent experience
3+ years experience in aerospace or regulated manufacturing quality role
Strong knowledge of:
Quality systems and standards (AS9100 preferred)
MRB and nonconformance processes
Root cause and corrective action methods
Experience reviewing manufacturing plans and technical documentation
Ability to lead cross-functional investigations
Preferred Qualifications
AS9100 / aerospace quality system experience
MRB authority experience
RCCA / problem-solving certification (8D, Six Sigma, etc.)
Experience supporting customer audits and corrective actions
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and controlled documentation systems

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
