Maintenance Construction
The Maintenance / Construction Worker is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and light construction tasks across apartment communities and facilities. This role supports daily operations, unit turns, preventative maintenance, and capital improvement projects while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with company standards.Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & RepairsPerform routine maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairsTroubleshoot and repair issues in apartments, common areas, and building systemsRespond to service requests in a timely and professional mannerComplete work orders with proper documentation (notes, photos, materials used)Construction & ProjectsAssist with renovation projects, unit turns, and upgrades (drywall, flooring, cabinets, painting, etc.)Perform demolition, framing, installation, and finish work as assignedSupport capital improvement projects such as roofing, paving, irrigation, and exterior upgradesEnsure work meets quality standards and project timelinesPreventative MaintenanceConduct regular inspections of units, buildings, and groundsIdentify and correct potential issues (leaks, water waste, safety hazards)Maintain equipment and tools in good working conditionSafety & ComplianceFollow all OSHA and company safety guidelinesEnsure compliance with local building codes and regulationsMaintain clean and safe work areasTeam & Vendor SupportWork collaboratively with maintenance team and supervisorsAssist with vendor coordination when neededSupport emergency repairs and after-hours calls as requiredTools Requirement (Mandatory)Employees must supply and maintain their own basic hand and diagnostic tools necessary to perform job duties, including but not limited to:Voltmeter (multimeter)Power drill/driver with bitsHammerScrewdrivers (Phillips and flathead)Adjustable wrench and pliersTape measureUtility knifeBasic HVAC and plumbing hand toolsNote: Specialized tools and large equipment may be provided by the company as needed.Travel RequirementThis position requires regular travel between multiple properties and job sitesEmployees must be willing to travel to different cities as needed to complete assigned workOccasional overnight stays may be required depending on project location and scheduleTravel may include short-notice assignments to support urgent repairs or projectsQualifications Required2+ years of maintenance or construction experienceBasic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentryAbility to use hand and power tools safelyValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferredTrade certifications (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)Experience in multifamily or property managementBilingual (English/Spanish)Skills & AbilitiesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGood communication and customer service skillsAbility to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical laborTime management and ability to prioritize tasksModernHR is an equal opportunity employer and we are committed to Equal Employment Opportunity regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, veteran status, disability, history of disability or perceived disability, and per the Fair Chance Ordinance will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the ordinance.
