Staff Accountant I

What We NeedCORPAY is currently looking to hire a Staff Accountant within our Accounting and Finance division. This position falls under our Corporate Payables line of business and is located in Brentwood. In this role, you will be instrumental component of the company's Accounting Department primarily within the Corporate Payments division. You will report directly to Assistant Controller and regularly collaborate with team and departments.How We WorkAs a Staff Accountant, you will be expected to work in an office environment. CORPAY will set you up for success by providing:Assigned workspace in Brentwood office in a hybridCompany-issued equipment + remote accessFormal, hands-on trainingRole ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the role will include:Ownership of daily reconciliations including prompt resolution of identified variances.Preparation of month-end close activities, including timely preparation of journal entries and account reconciliationsPrompt response to provide additional support for preliminary month-end financial review and flux explanations at the request of supervisorsEnsure collaboration for an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closeContinually evaluate and optimize processes to deliver process automation and improved accuracy.Participates in the preparation of internal controls and the corresponding policies and procedures that improve the overall operation and reduce risks of the business.Coordinate with other team members within our department to ensure accuracy of the financial account balancesPartner with and liaison with other departments on analyzing financial balances, problem resolution, and strategic business initiativesParticipate in special projects and perform other related duties as assignedQualifications & SkillsProven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively communicate to all levels of an organization when necessaryAbility to coordinate and work within a team in a hybrid environmentDemonstrated background and knowledge of US GAAP and SOXAbility to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines timely accurately in a high pace environmentExcellent organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skillsHands-on, detail-oriented individual with the ability to see the big pictureDesire to work in a complex, large scale accounting and finance environmentThe right person will be ambitious and flexible who wants to learn and grow professionallyUncompromising commitment to diligence, rigor and excellenceFirm, assertive, and non-abrasive style that engenders collaboration and loyaltyAdvanced computer skills for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and up to date skills for ERP, EPM and DB systemsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA track a plus0-2 years of previous experience in accounting roles - public accounting experience a plusUnderstanding of journal entries and account reconciliationsFintech, financial, technology sector/industry experience a plusInterest with process improvement and IT system implementation projectsBenefits & PerksMedical, Dental & Vision benefits available the 1st month after hireAutomatic enrollment into our 401k plan (subject to eligibility requirements)Virtual fitness classes offered company-wideRobust PTO offerings including major holidays, vacation, sick, personal, & volunteer timeEmployee discounts with major providers (i.e. wireless, gym, car rental, etc.)Philanthropic support with both local and national organizationsFun culture with company-wide contests and prizesOur Company & PurposeCORPAY is a global leader in business payments, laser focused on developing smarter ways for businesses to pay their expenses.
