Pathology Lab Aide - Lab - Full-Time - Days

Job Description PURPOSE OF JOB :To assist the Histology and Cytology Department in the preparation of tissue and cells for microscope pathology. Performs Histologic and Cytologic procedures as stated in the Histology and Cytology Procedure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : 60% 1. Accurately and legibly accessions specimens with the use of the computer. Assists pathologistwith frozen sections. Follows slides through the H&E stainer and appropriately distributes slidesto the pathologists.15% 2. Safely disposes of pathological waste, keeps Histology and Cytologystocked.15% 3. Assists in maintaining histology and cytology instrumentation.5% 4. Assists Cytology with designated duties.5% 5. Promotes patient safety by compliance with Organizational/Departmental policies and proceduresJob QualificationsEducation: High School diploma or equivalent
