About the RoleA well‑established firm is seeking a contract-to-hire Trust & Estate Litigation Attorney to join its collaborative and growing practice. This role offers hands‑on responsibility across sophisticated trust and estate disputes, with exposure to estate planning considerations, fiduciary issues, and contested matters. The position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys litigation, values high‑quality legal work, and thrives in a team‑oriented environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage trust and estate litigation matters from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, law and motion, and trial preparationCounsel clients regarding estate planning issues and potential conflict or litigation exposure related to trusts and willsPerform in‑depth legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and related platforms to support litigation strategyDraft and review litigation documents including pleadings, briefs, discovery responses, and settlement materialsMaintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirementsParticipate in negotiations and dispute resolution efforts with opposing counselWork with outside experts, including financial and valuation professionals, on estate asset analysis and fiduciary mattersCommunicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, and next stepsQualificationsJuris Doctor from an accredited law school and active California bar membership3–5 years of litigation experience within California courtsPrior trust and estate litigation experience requiredStrong research skills and comfort navigating Westlaw and LexisNexisExcellent legal writing and analytical abilitiesAbility to manage multiple matters efficiently while meeting deadlines
