Job Overview Cafe in Silver Spring. Cafe K serves breakfast and lunch everyday except Saturday, 7:30-3:30pm). We are open for dinner Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday 4:30pm-9:30pm.We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a Preferred Skills *Experience in creating fine dining dishes *strong understanding of kitchen operations. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our restaurant. Your responsibilities will include preparing ingredients, assisting in meal preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Responsibilities Prepare and chop ingredients for various dishes in accordance with recipes and dietary guidelines. Assist and sometimes lead the culinary team in meal preparation, ensuring timely service during peak hours. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper food handling practices. Support the dietary department by following specific dietary needs and restrictions for meal preparation. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to all food safety regulations. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure quality control and presentation of dishes. Help with inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying management when stock is low. Qualifications Previous experience in food preparation or as a dietary aide is preferred but not required. Knowledge of culinary techniques and food handling practices within the food industry is essential. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes accurately. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. A passion for cooking and a willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated when needed.
