Sr Systems Engineer

Aspen is seeking a forward-thinking Sr. Systems Engineer to workon the design, development, integration, and lifecycle support ofcomplex automation and biotechnology systems. The ideal candidatehas proven experience in applying advanced systems engineeringprinciples to translate requirements into robust, compliant, andscalable solutions. The position operates with a high degree ofautonomy, exercising sound engineering judgment to resolvecomplex technical challenges and ensure system performance inregulated, uptime‐critical environments.This is an on-site role in Torrey Pines, CA that requiresflexibility and availability for weekend and holiday work asneeded. Relocation is not available.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Lead the definition and interpretation of system requirements,operational scenarios, and success criteria for complexautomation and biotechnology systems.* Contribute to and influence system architecture and designconcepts, applying engineering first principles to developfunctional, elegant, and scalable solutions.* Drive system integration activities across hardware, software,and controls, ensuring reliable interoperability andperformance.* Develop and execute verification and validation strategies,including functional testing, to confirm compliance withrequirements, quality standards, and regulatory expectations.* Create and apply analytical models to evaluate designalternatives, assess risk, and select robust technicalsolutions.* Diagnose and resolve complex system failures, performing rootcause analysis in environments where system uptime andreliability are critical.* Produce and maintain system documentation, specifications, andtechnical reports to support development, testing, and lifecyclemanagement.* Ensure adherence to internal quality systems, industrystandards, and applicable regulatory requirements throughoutsystem development and deployment.* Collaborate closely with cross‐functional partners(engineering, scientific, quality, and operations teams) tosupport successful project execution and system delivery.* Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to peers andproject teams as a subject matter contributor.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer,Biomedical, or Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.* Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in systemsengineering, automation, hardware development, orbiotechnology‐related environments.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:* Systems Engineering Knowledge: Understanding of systemsengineering principles, system architecture, and interest inemerging technologies, particularly within biotechnology andcustom automation environments.* Analytical Problem Solving: Strong engineering intuition withthe ability to analyze complex issues, develop models, andimplement rigorous, logical solutions.* Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written, verbal, andpresentation skills with the ability to convey technical conceptsto diverse stakeholders.* Process Orientation: Strong attention to detail with acommitment to process discipline, documentation, and continuousimprovement.* Regulatory Awareness: Knowledge of GxP principles andfamiliarity with FDA regulations (21 CFR Parts 11, 210, 211, 820)is desirable.* Hardware & Automation Technologies: Experience with hardwaresystems such as robotics, motion platforms, controls, and machinevision.* Mechanical Systems: Familiarity with statics, dynamics, motioncontrol, and mechanism design.* Electronic Systems: Skilled in integration of electroniccomponents, electric motor control, custom/off-the-shelf hardwareselection, and system safety.* Software Integration: Proficiency in at least one high-levelprogramming language and experience in integration and testingwithin automated systems.EEO and Employment Eligibility:Aspen Neuroscience is committed to providing equal employmentopportunities to all employees and job applicants and prohibitsdiscrimination and harassment of any type. The final salary offered to asuccessful candidate will be dependent on several factors thatmay include but are not limited to the type and length ofexperience within the industry, education, etc. AspenNeuroscience is multi-state employer, and this salary range maynot reflect positions that work in other states.
