Position OverviewWeeks Group, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Data Center Controls Engineer to support the design, implementation, commissioning, optimization, and ongoing operation of mission-critical Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) across hyperscale and enterprise data center projects.As a member of our mission-critical team, the Controls Engineer will work closely with clients, design teams, contractors, commissioning agents, and operations personnel to ensure the reliable integration and performance of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure. This role combines controls engineering, project management, troubleshooting, commissioning, and operational support throughout the data center lifecycle.The ideal candidate has experience with BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and industrial controls systems and possesses a strong understanding of critical data center infrastructure, including HVAC, chilled water, electrical distribution, backup power, and mission-critical operations.Our ValuesWe Answer the Call: Integrity. Disdain for mediocrity.Key ResponsibilitiesControls Engineering & Systems IntegrationSupport the design, configuration, and implementation of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)Develop, review, and optimize controls sequences of operation (SOO) for mechanical and electrical systemsIntegrate controls platforms with HVAC, chilled water, critical power, fire alarm, and auxiliary building systemsDevelop and modify controls logic, graphical user interfaces, alarms, and trending functionsCoordinate interfaces between multiple vendors, contractors, and client systemsProject Management & ExecutionDevelop project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and level-of-effort estimates for controls projectsManage multiple controls improvement and retrofit projects simultaneouslyCoordinate procurement activities, including RFQs, vendor evaluations, and proposal reviewsAttend project meetings and provide regular project status updates to stakeholdersSupport construction and retrofit activities while minimizing operational risk to live facilitiesCommissioning & Operational SupportSupport startup, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and turnover activitiesTrain internal teams and clients on the operation and functionality of BMS and EPMS platformsProvide technical support throughout the operational lifecycle of data center facilitiesReview preventive maintenance findings and coordinate corrective actionsParticipate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of controls and system performance issuesCritical Infrastructure SupportSupport monitoring and control of mission-critical systems, including Utility and standby generatorsUninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systemsElectrical switchgearPower Distribution Units (PDUs)Automatic and static transfer switchesVariable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Chillers (air and water cooled)Cooling towersPumps and heat exchangersCRAH and CRAC unitsAir economizersChilled water distribution systemsMechanical and electrical support infrastructureQuality Assurance & DocumentationReview controls submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentationMaintain controls documentation, point lists, network architecture, and sequences of operationVerify compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and client standardsSupport development of standard operating procedures and best practicesEnsure quality installation and commissioning of controls systemsClient & Stakeholder CoordinationServe as a technical resource for owners, project teams, contractors, and operations personnelFrequently visit project sites and operating data centers to support troubleshooting and project executionCoordinate vendor activities and verify compliance with project scope and quality standardsManage BMS and EPMS service contracts and vendor performanceBuild strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.5+ years of experience with building automation, industrial controls, or mission-critical infrastructure.Experience supporting data center, industrial, or complex commercial facilities.Experience carrying controls projects from design through commissioning and operational support.Working knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), SCADA, and PLC-based controls.Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, OPC, LonWorks, and related communication protocols.Understanding of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure.Experience with power monitoring and energy management systems.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.Excellent communication and project management abilities.PreferredExperience supporting hyperscale data center projects.Experience with Siemens, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, Ignition, Tridium Niagara, or similar platforms.Experience with live mission-critical environments.Knowledge of integrated systems testing and data center commissioning processes.Familiarity with Uptime Institute and ANSI/TIA-942 standards.Experience with Owner's Representative or construction management services.
