Travel PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Chino Valley, Arizona
Provide advanced nursing care across multiple units in a dynamic hospital setting, supporting patient needs in Med Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units (PCU). This contract position requires adaptability and critical thinking to manage diverse patient populations and acuity levels while maintaining high standards of care. Location:This role is based in Chino Valley, AZ, offering a gateway to comfortable living amidst scenic landscapes and a welcoming community. The area is known for its mild climate, outdoor recreational opportunities, and a slower pace of life that balances work and relaxation effectively.Responsibilities:Float between Med Surg, Telemetry, and PCU units to provide bedside nursing care.Manage care for geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac cath, post-MI, and CABG patients (day 3-4 post-op).Titrate and monitor drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.Interpret cardiac telemetry strips with accuracy; collaborate with monitor techs.Work within nurse:patient ratios of 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5-6 (MedSurg Tele).Collaborate with charge nurses who do not take assignments but oversee unit operations.Utilize nurse aides and respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, Heated High Flow) as part of patient care.Adapt to scheduling via float pool with shifts of 7 a.m.-7 p.m., scheduled six weeks in advance.Qualifications/Desired Experience:Current RN license for the state with at least 2 years in Med Tele and 1 year in PCU nursing.ACLS and BLS certifications are required.Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing.Proven ability to manage complex cardiac patients and titrate multiple drips confidently.Experience with float pool or multi-unit nursing is highly preferred.Compliance with radius and facility non-competition rules.Additional Information:Orientation includes 8 hours general hospital and 12-hour shifts in both MedSurg Tele and PCU units.Scrub dress code transitioning to navy blue per upcoming guidelines.Weekend work every other week and participation in holiday rotations. No call/standby required.Assignments communicated via text approximately two hours before shift start.
