Software Development Engineer IIEmployer: Audible, Inc. Location: Cambridge, MA 101 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142Duties: Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing, and documentation of embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using Java, Python, C#, or C++, and object-oriented design with a focus on generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) solutions. Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools. Mentor junior development engineers. Position reports into Cambridge, MA office; however, telecommuting may also be allowed.Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience as a Software Development Engineer or a related occupation involving software development. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:Two (2) years in each of the following:Designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services using Java, Python, C#, C++, or Object-Oriented DesignUtilizing knowledge of data structures, algorithms, or object-oriented design principles to optimize code performance and efficiencyWorking with version control systems such as Git or similarWorking with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or Typescript) or web services (RESTful APIs)Using software testing techniques (unit testing, integration testing, or automated testing) to ensure high-quality, maintainable codeConducting performance analysis and optimization of applications, focusing on reducing latency, improving throughput, and enhancing resource utilizationIntegrating security best practices into the development lifecycle, including encryption at-rest and in-transit, role-based access control, or secure API authentication mechanismsWorking with distributed databases including AWS DynamoDB, or relational databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or OracleWorking with AWS or similar cloud-based infrastructure or developer toolsUsing large language models (LLMs) in software solutions or applicationsOne (1) year in the following:Creating and maintaining large-scale distributed applications or services leveraging cloud infrastructureSalary: $143,700 - $194,400/year. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
