Full Stack Engineer — STIC (drivestic.com) Los Angeles, CA | Full-time | HybridHow this role fits the org: You'll sit at the intersection of hardware and product, working directly with the CTO to define data contracts, and with client-facing leads to ensure the dashboard is always demo-ready. At our stage, you'll have outsized influence on architecture decisions that will scale with the platform. What Success Looks LikeLive analytics data refreshes in near real-time across all deployed devices with zero visible lagThe edge-to-cloud pipeline handles device drop-offs, reconnects, and burst traffic without data lossThe dashboard and companion apps are polished, on-brand, and enterprise demo-ready at all timesYou ship faster by using Claude and AI tools as a core part of your workflow — not slower by resisting themResponsibilitiesDesign and maintain cloud APIs (REST/WebSocket) that ingest telemetry from edge devices, handling authentication, rate limiting, and reconnect logicBuild and iterate on STIC's real-time analytics dashboard, ensuring accurate, low-latency rendering across multiple data views and client tiersArchitect the data pipeline from edge device → message broker → time-series store → frontend, collaborating with hardware engineers to define and maintain payload schemasImplement role-based access control supporting advertiser, city operator, and government user tiers, each with appropriate data scoping and export controlsOwn frontend state management for streaming data sources, including graceful handling of device offline states, demo seed data injection, and live/replay mode togglingEvaluate, integrate, and maintain third-party and internal applications that connect to STIC's platform — assessing fit, identifying gaps, and owning the integration layer end-to-endWrite clear technical documentation for API contracts, data schemas, and deployment runbooks to support cross-functional execution across a lean teamUse Claude and other AI coding assistants actively and openly as part of daily workflow — for scaffolding, debugging, code review, and rapid prototyping — and help establish AI-assisted development norms across the engineering teamParticipate in hardware integration reviews to ensure cloud and firmware teams share aligned data contracts as new device revisions shipQualifications3+ years of full stack experience with a modern JS/TS frontend framework (React preferred) and a backend language (Node.js, Python, or Go)Hands-on experience with real-time data — WebSockets, SSE, or MQTT — and time-series or event-driven databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or equivalent)Comfort working with IoT or embedded device data: familiarity with payload schemas, device state management, and handling intermittent connectivityStrong understanding of REST API design, authentication patterns (JWT/OAuth), and cloud deployment on AWS, GCP, or AzureExperience building data-dense dashboards with charting libraries (Recharts, Chart.js, D3, or equivalent)Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments (Docker basics required, Kubernetes a plus)Active, fluent use of AI coding tools — Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent — as a core part of your engineering workflow; we expect this, we reward it, and we'll ask about it in the interviewStrong cross-functional communication skills; able to translate hardware constraints into frontend requirements and vice versaNice to have:Prior experience in AdTech, smart cities, or edge analytics platformsExperience designing multi-tenant SaaS dashboards with whitelabel or enterprise client requirementsFamiliarity with distributed sensor networks or IoT data pipelinesWhy STICIf you want to work where hardware, cloud, and product strategy are all one conversation, this is that place.
